On the way back from the game. Obviously disappointed but actually thought second half performance was ok and we put them under pressure. As others have said we are still in the game.

Great atmosphere tonight also. Particularly in the second half.

Atmosphere was awful and if you think head tennis is ok then go watch 4th league football. Today’s tactics was not acceptable.

All over them? We'd one shot on target you tranny
We were dominating the game and had most of the ball when you post.
The game had a long way to go.
Most of the 2nd half was in their half and they were doing fk all. No we didnt have much goal threat but we wont with Llorente up front and Son and Kane missing.
You asked 'why are we not playing?'
I'd have thought that was obvious with the players we have missing.
You cant take 40+ goals out of any team, plus a weakend midfield, and look just as good. What did you expect?
Poor form with the name calling btw numb nuts ;)

Although we lost to City, we still managed to score 3 goals at the Etihad and we did it without having Sissoko for the entire second half.

I think it’s possible of beating Ajax in Amsterdam. The 1-0 scoreline does not make it a lost cause. There is still hope.

It’s only one step away from the final. I’m sure Poch will drill that into the players and Dele needs a rocket up his rear before the game.

Llorente had a free header in the middle of the box and placed it clinically wide.
Toby's first one was a pretty clear chance as well.

I'm still confused by the fact that people seem to have thought that a team that absolutely ruined Juventus and Real Madrid in their own back yards weren't going to cause a weakened Spurs serious problems.

Just got back, so here's my take

  1. they had a 25-30 min spell in which they killed us. Great side
  2. that all changed when Sissoko came on
  3. I have never in my life been more wrong about a player than I have about sisoko
  4. There has to be an upgrade for Trips out there somewhere, and we're not even talking big money for it to be an upgrade
  5. I said to my son on the way to the game, given our injuries we need an 8 or 9 out 10 performance from Dele and Eriksen. We got 4 or 5 at best
  6. If we had Kane, Son, and winks playing, its a different game
  7. THIS IS NOT OVER YET
  8. COYS !!
PS - i am not an expert on concussion other than having suffered from it (twice). The first time the effect didn't kick in for 30 mins or so after (bike accident) when I threw up and fell over (!!). Still, questions need to be asked about why he was allowed back on.

Ridiculous. It hasn’t worked all season in the main.

He has continuously get his first half tactics wrong this season. Thankfully we’ve had good enough players to rectify it at half time on many occasions.
He consistently gets it wrong because he overrates many of the players. He is too close to them, too paternal. There is evidence there if you want to compile it that Poch may not be the best judge of a player. And I don't know the relative weight of his choices being financial vs quality so I'm somewhat blind here just using the end products. But he didn't rate Dembele at CM hence he played RW/AM for 1.25 years. Sissoko, who was always a MF and made his name in a CM2 at Toulouse, RMF at NUFC and France was played at RW but now we are nothing without him at CM. Plus his persistence with players without the actual physical tools to compete in this league/his tactics, Janssen, Tripps, to some extent Davies, etc.

This is exactly why we need a DOF and exactly why he should not have been allowed to take on that position. No manager can do both those jobs. A DOF need not be 'above' a manager but someone needs to be tasked with the hard player personnel choices that we have neglected for the last few years. But also, someone needs to sit Poch down and say you want a small squad but it has bitten us in the ass on more than 1 occasion. And also evaluate his goldilocks-porridge approach to players. IDK what was on his mind there was a quality MF or 2 available on loan in the summer and in Jan (Gomes and Tielemanns respectively) and we were fucking light there so you take the loan. We needed bodies and it is even better that those bodies would have been actual fucking footballers.

To add: our corners were horrendous again. Always an opportunity to get in the game, but never dangerous...

I thought the atmosphere was good considering the crap the team served up. Fans continued to get behind them as much as we could.

Not where I was standing. Waiting on the team to lift them as usual. I would rather have a 10k ground all singing rather than a 17k wall of whisperers

Tactically set up wrong from the start. But worse than that, was the lack of intent and aggressiveness from the very start.
CL semi final for christ sake. The crowd were certainly pumped up, why seemingly weren't the fucking players. Until the 2nd half, total lack of intensity, just trotted around watching Ajax play, shocking.

We're 1-0 down at HT with Son to come on.

Everyone jumping on the Ajax bandwagon but I think they might blink now everyone's expecting them to win.

Don't think we've heard the last about us allowing Jan back onto the pitch though

Am I the only one who fills his nappy every time one of our players passes back to Hugo ?....he just doesn't look comfortable in such situations and his attempts to pass it back out invariable have us back under pressure.
I'd much rather him just give it a boot upfield. Not the "modern' game I know but in poor old Hugo's case much, much safer.

Their keeper didn't even make a save. We were fucking clueless.

They had three clear cut chances, scored one, hit the post and Lloris' quick thinking stopped the other.

We didn't even have one clear cut chance.

Llorente and Toby's unmarked headers from Eriksen's free kicks were certainly clear cut chances. Llorente's was a shank, but Toby's could've and probably should've gone in imo.

Possibly. It's obvious Eriksen's head has been turned and Alli doesn't look like he can be arsed any more. Wanyama has had it, he's just not the same player he was. Llorente isn't good enough, for someone who's 6ft 5 he doesn't win anywhere near enough headers. Tripper don't get me started on.

Tbf to Llorente not a single cross went anywhere near his head barring one FK
