“Spurs shouldn't be there. You say to anyone at the start of the season a team is going to lose 19 games in all competitions, and yet they'll find themselves in the final of Champions League, you'd say you are talking nonsense."

And yet, Graeme, if you knew anything about football, you'd know that there was precedent for this.

This season, Spurs have lost 19, drawn 5 and won 33.

Yet another CL winner went into the final, having lost 19, drawn 10 and won only 30.

In other words, they had a worse record than Spurs this season.

Yet, funnily enough, no pundit said they didn't deserve to be there. No pundit decried this as nonsense.

Could that be because the team in question were the Liverpool 2004-05 team and all the pundits at that time (and now) were former Liverpool players and consequently jammed right up that Liverpool team's arse?

Yes. Yes, it could.

Hypocritical Scouse ****s.

Sky Sports pundits gone for a clean sweep in favour of Pool, in saying that it includes unbiased Phil Thompson, Gooner Nicholas so I think regardless of form they would have picked Pool for the win. Le Tiss has gone 3-2 to Pool also. Obviously they are big big favourites, I honestly hate playing them really hope we turn up and defy the odds.

They’re favourites but I wouldn’t say they’re big big favourites.

What scores did Thompson and Nicholas predict?

I can't wait for the post match interview with Danny Rose, after we've lifted the trophy, where he says "Souness was out of order for what he said."

the previous games mean nothing, it's a final ffs. anything can happen. the previous 300 games mean nothing, only the result of a single one.

Stephen Warnock writing on the BBC site "Can spurs turn the tables on Liverpool" then goes on to describe how Liverpool play and how or whether Tottenham can stop them, now I'm not complaining about what he said but I found it interesting that his starting point was that we have to stop Liverpool playing, the assumption being that we won't play ourselves and therefore Liverpool won't have to stop us playing. Shows how much the underdogs they think we are.

People (somewhat justifiably) are blinded by the fact that they finished so far ahead of us in the league when, in a one off game on neutral ground, there is actually very little between the teams. This league season was a bit of a one-off for both teams, I feel.

"Graeme Souness believes Tottenham have been lucky to reach the Champions League final and do not deserve to be there.
Spurs and Liverpool face off in the Madrid showpiece on Saturday evening – a match you can follow LIVE on talkSPORT.

The Reds made the final with an incredible win over Barcelona, overcoming a 3-0 aggregate deficit to triumph 4-0 at Anfield to progress to the final stage.

Tottenham also staged a dramatic comeback after scoring three times late on against Ajax to make their first Champions League final.

And Souness, speaking to Virgin Sport, claims the north London side have been very lucky to reach the final.

“Spurs shouldn’t be there,” Souness said.

You say to anyone at the start of the season this team is going to lose 19 games in all competitions and yet they’ll find themselves in the final of the Champions League you’d say you’re talking nonsense.

“But they’ve somehow got themselves there and I think they’re fortunate to be there.”

Souness continued to suggest that a hybrid team between the two finalists would be dominated by Liverpool stars."

What we can deduce from this Is something that we already know: Souness is a fucking prick.

As fortunate as Liverpool last season who had the easiest run to a final in cl history? Did Souness say anything about that at the time? Did he fuck.
You dont come up against the teams we have and get to a final by just being lucky. You need a bit of luck granted and Liverpool have had some as well.

Been listening to a few opinions on Talksport today and this seems to be a point largely missed. Jim Proudfoot just now tried to sound professional but you could tell he thought it was a formality. He turned every point to their favour.

They are currently a better team and had a much better season, and are deserved favourites, but I think people are letting that cloud their judgement.

Our season has been an absolute scramble all the way through, stadium delays, WC fatigue, endless injuries. They've rode a wave of momentum and on the most part been very lucky with a settled team and minimal injuries.

Talk of them having 'big game players' and yet failing to mention the likes of Kane, Lloris, Son and Eriksen being key contributors in huge moments in this CL run alone. Talk of Van Dijk and how he's the all round defender (admittedly immense) however no mention of how good Toby and Jan have been in recent years.

This is a one off game on neutral ground and Poch has finally had the luxury of prep time and a near full squad to pick from. I like the noises coming out of our camp this week, we want to earn our place in history, they think they deserve it. Discount us and you may be in for a shock.

Lawro’s predilections.

What’s totally amazing is that the two musicians who give their opinions offer really fantastic insight and make loads of sense. Unlike Lawro.

Worth a read for the musician’s punditry....amazing.

I hate it when people say things like "they deserve it" you get what you deserve in football, they blew off the FA and league cup and were piped to the title by a superior team, if they win it they deserve it, if we win it we'd have deserved it.
