I said all along if we were going to lose this game I didn’t want us to lose they way arsenal surrendered in Baku cos that was embarrassing and I didn’t want us to lose cruelly to a last minute penalty or stoppage time deflected goal.

That didn’t happen and so far as I’m concerned we lost with honour. For some that’s still a loss but regardless of how you feel, I am proud of this club and miracles we have witnessed this season......moments that will live with me and my son forever.

Back in the hotel now, and looking forward to getting home tomorrow

Also looking forward to another champions league campaign next season and not every club in London can say that
Yes agree, just wish a little more in the first half and better in the second but all in all not our best performance but nothing to be ashamed off

If we'd be anywhere near our best we would easily have won that game. That's what's gutting.

That and the ridiculous fucking penalty. I've seen so many shit decisions this season, I feel crushed by that pen. Gonna give things a break next season. Can't take it.
It was a stone cold penalty, nothing ridiculous about the decision

We were comfortably third and ended the season 4th. I'm more pissed off about losing away to Southampton, Burnley and Bournemouth and then to have shitty West Ham win at our new stadium. All of those should not have happened.

The Champions League was a ride and considering we were almost out 5 times but still made it to the final just made it more exciting.

We all know we have to build the squad and make it stronger which is exactly what Liverpool did. Sure, Liverpool didn't play well tonight but what is also sure is they had a better season than us for a team that we were better than before they spent £200M to fix it.

If that’s a penalty in the modern game then we all need to start training our forwards to kick the ball at the oppositions arms.

We weren’t our best but neither were they. They don’t win that game without that dodgy pen. I think the heat killed the spectacle but we should be proud to have got that far
Like Hoddle said, if it hit his arm first you could take it on the chin but it his his body first. I’ve never seen that given as pen when the ref knows it hit the body first. It would’ve hit the arm wherever he had it because it hit the part nearest the shoulder

Season has been a slog tbh, great to reach a champs league final. We're in it again next season though and fingers crossed we have a good transfer window now ?

Acceptance of failure.

People saying the penalty ruined the game or cost us, get a fucking grip, we had 88 minutes to get back into the fucking game. Responsibility is our own.
Not really. It gave the leading team a huge psychological assurance to be more risky knowing they were ahead. And being ahead almost immediately right off the start also mind-fucked the trailing team. Any preparation before the match could almost be gone, or 50% useless, with that scoreline at K.O

Lost to last year's finalists who also spent a pretty penny addressing their flaws and finished a fair few points above us.

It's not that bad.

Their fans, the media.... That's fucking bad. Tune out, keep the faith and roll on next season xx

It was great to see us in a final but we won't be back again

I wouldn't have thought we'd be in one to begin with. Anything can happen in football and with a couple of new faces and a full season in our new stadium we can be in the mix.

Has to be said as well, any player who goes to Poch and says he wants to leave after that performance needs a reality check.

Chatting to my kid this morning, she's four, told her that Dad had to wait 40+ years for this final and she had one at age four.
Thank you to Poch and the lads for some amazing memories this season.
Summer off and we go again...but I am ok with a little break now....it has been an intense season.

You can still play the same way with the goal of scoring, it's 1 goal, I'm assuming our game plan had the intention of us scoring. Yes towards the final 20 you need to take more risks being a goal down but we could easily have stuck to our plan for 70 mins and tried to go equalise.

There are adults in this thread angry that Harry Kane played in a Champion's League final for Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane's our best player though and he's been declared fit. Barcelona start Messi if hes just back from injury, Juventus start Ronaldo, Lewandowski at Bayern, Liverpool made the same choice about Firmino.

Should Lucas have played instead of Son or Moura? Maybe. Its always easy to say it was the wrong decision afterwards.
There is a central flaw to that argument, sir

I didn't think we would make it either so fair play to get that far still the wait to win something drags on.

Personally I reckon the penalty was absolutely crucial because without it the pressure just builds on Liverpool and the longer the game went on the more it would have ground them down, I have said all along that all the pressure was on them. The penalty released all the pressure and from then on they never had to try to score and could defend in numbers.

Fuck Liverpool! Without shit officiating for the 2nd goal we still had glimmer of hope!!!

What was the officiating problem for the 2nd goal? Seem ok to me but I literally turn the tv off as soon as the ball hit the net

Agreed. Imagine Eriksen having the bottle to say he is better than us? I’d let him go.

If you can’t turn up to that game yet you aren’t a top player.

Danny Rose. Effort and heart and quality. Yet half the natural talent of Eriksen.
