Yeah we should...but we have to live within the realms of realism.
We should also (in no particular order):
- be replacing Dembele
- getting a new RB
- shipping out a ton of deadwood...and getting a good price for them all
- replacing Toby
- getting a long term replacement for Jan
- getting Eriksen to sign a new contract
- adding creativity in centre mid
- adding more AM options
- buying a long term LB replacement for Rose
- running the club in a responsible way to make sure we're financially secure
Now the reality is that we cannot do all of those things. We just can't - the incomings and outgoings don't balance. So we have to prioritise.
It's why I've always taken the info that buying Lo Celso is not conditional on Eriksen going out (as marvelous as that would be) with a pinch of salt - it would mean we'd end up compromising on a bunch of other things we need to do. It's not like I'm privy to the clubs finances, but instinctively it just feels a stretch given a large cost over run on the stadium.
I'm sure I'll get 'disagree' ratings, and believe me, I'm not happy about the constraints on the club, but I just can't see a scenario where we buy Lo Celso and keep Eriksen - or if that is the case, we'd need to sell someone else, or not buy Ndombele (who i think is fundamental to developing our team)
Only one I'd change there is replacing Toby, would like to get Joachim Andersen. We should also (in no particular order):
- be replacing Dembele
ndombele
- getting a new RB
wan-bissaka (funded by selling trippier and aurier)
- shipping out a ton of deadwood...and getting a good price for them all
wanyama, gkn, janssen, trippier, aurier? llorente and vorm already gone
- replacing Toby
dier/foyth
- getting a long term replacement for Jan
sanchez
- getting Eriksen to sign a new contract
fingers crossed...
- adding creativity in centre mid
ndombele/lo celso
- adding more AM options
lo celso/clarke
- buying a long term LB replacement for Rose
sessegnon
- running the club in a responsible way to make sure we're financially secure
They've been big on the Eriksen to Madrid on/off saga and the Ceballos to Spurs saga. They also claimed we'd bid 100m euros on Asensio so I'm not sure how reliable they are either. So take that with a pinch of salt. Not sure how reliable El Confidencial are

iirc he is not included in the retained list of players on official site of premier league, don't know if we will offer a new contract thoughHas Llorente actually gone? I read the official press release about Vorm going but there was no mention of Llorente. I know that his contract is up at the end of the month but there has been some speculation in the media about a possible contract extension.
If he does stay, it would mean that there is currently only one place in the squad for a non-HG player. If that player were Ndombele, it would suggest Lo Celso is dependent on Eriksen (or another non-HG player) leaving.
There will be a massive meltdown if our purchases are based on Eriksen sale when we have a £120m profit from last FY and made around £70m in prize money from CL....
It’s what I’ve been saying, despite the increased finances, it is just how we have historically operated. Especially if we sign ndombele, who Poch seems to want as our midfield target (we’ve not been linked with any other central midfielders as strongly as him). Surely nobody can believe we are going to spend £60 million on him and then the same amount on lo celso?
It really doesn’t sound like us unless we are getting money in from selling players. People just don’t seem to want to believe it. We need the Eriksen situation decided ASAP else it’s a perfect excuse for us not to buy anyone.

Unless i've completely missed the point, the reason we built a shiny new stadium was to benefit from all the extra income it would bring (obviously talking associated sponsorships, raised profile of club etc etc not just bums on seats) which in turn raises the ability of the club to keep paying a similar % of it's income for wages and transfers, but a much higher amount (due to the extra income), while still complying with FFP and running the club in a sensible self sustaining manner. I'm surprised people can't grasp that notion and still think we will be paying our players £60k a week and never break our current transfer record. What do people think Levy will do with any surplus money (once loan repayments etc have been paid) ? Do you think he'll be hording it away somewhere for his retirement ? Virtually every penny will be used to improve 'The Club' as it always has been, be it player transfers and wages or projects and infrastructure. At some point in the reasonably near future all the 'penny pinching' will have paid off massively and Spurs will be an extremely profitable club, with the ability to pay big wages and big transfer fees alongside the majority of the biggest clubs. I honestly don't understand how anyone can't comprehend what the 'plan' is/has been all along.
Ok, so you think we will spend over £120m by the end of this window without selling anyone to fund purchases. There’s running the club properly like Levy has done, with having the hindsight of history, and then there’s thinking that will happen. It won’t.
read that as "fist" at first*First
Well according to Hercs ITK our main 3 targets are not dependent on sales, only players bought after are. If the 3 are Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon that is around £120m.
I very much hope the article is nonsense (and I suspect it is), but if we really do only have £40m to spend then we'd be better off pursuing cheaper targets like Dani Ceballos.
I guess it's feasible that we'll only spend big on one player, with the main target being Ndombele, and that Lo Celso is only going to happen if Eriksen goes and/or Ndombele doesn't join. Real need to hurry up and let their intentions be known, or this could drag on all summer.
We also had ITK last season we'd do £150m net spend. Pinch of salt as always.
Last summer, Hercules did say we had a £150m transfer budget but he subsequently clarified this by saying this was dependent on outgoings and there would be a net spend of c£30m.
We were never going to spend £150m net last summer and I'd be surprised if we are this window.
