Wrong. The penalty was given for dangerous play (high boot, contact with studs to Morgan’s torso) and the foul occurred in the box while the ball was in play. Dutch player missed the ball. Clear penalty.

In what universe is this ball out of play? The very fact that Morgan braces to take contact means it altered the play but it doesn’t matter as the rule does not require the ball to eventually go out without further attempts to play it.

The contact was made after the US girl had knocked the ball out of play. I'm not saying that contact wasn't made but it didn't alter the play. It was a goal kick the ref gave a corner then gave a penalty on advice of some jobsworth in a studio. This is why VAR is becoming the a terrible idea, allow the ref to control the game unless he / she asks for help.
Was contact but as you say after the ball was going out. Clumsy but no penalty.

Morgan, as she has done throughout the tournament, went down easily. She went for the ball, knew a challenge was coming, closed her eyes, prodded the ball away and fell down. It is soft.

And one of the main reasons the USA are succesful.

For all the talk about how great the women's game has been in in regards the dark side of the game, diving, time wasting, dissent etc (like that makes up for the quality), compared to the men's - the USA team have continued to be lauded because they are so much better and more successful than every other nation....

One of the reasons is that they have that ruthless and elite mentality and have introduced time wasting and playing up the ref etc and are just not as naive as many of the other nations...

It might not be desirable, but no one else will challenge them until they adopt the same mentality.

Yes, I found it very ironic after being told how the women didn't dive, back chat and waste time as much as the men, that the eventual winners were clearly dabbling successfully in the dark arts.

This tea celebration lark when scoring against England from Morgan has it been discussed?

She says the mens game they all go crazy celebrating and the women "can't" which is why she did it. Clearly it was taking the micky and should be seen as incredibly disrespectful whatever gender or sport it is.

You disrespected a country, any man doing that would've got absolutely slated, so you should be glad you aren't in the men's game... You're also completely devaluing the woman's game by a making a mistake and playing the gender card.

Should put her hands up admit she's in the wrong and apologise, disgraceful.
From one angle, it looked like she was giving a blowie...so I'm gonna go with that.

Can some of our American posters explain to me why I am seeing lots of tweeting about a dropped flag? Seems like a lot of fuss over nothing.

Is it really that important?

Because lots of Yanks are morons who are ridiculously precious about a silly flag which nothing bad even happened to, all she did was put it down to celebrate.

That country really is a complete joke.

There is a code of etiquette regarding the US flag. There is a whole variety of things like it can't be hung upside down (unless a dire emergency), It can't touch anything below it such as the ground or water and nothing should be placed on the flag. There is a whole list of things that i think most people wouldn't have a clue about.

But one of the gals dropped a flag while doing a celebration with Rapinoe. This moment has been jumped upon by Fox News and other right wing outlets to cause outrage because a lesbian (Rapinoe) said she doesn't like Trump.

Yet you can bet that a large chunk of the outraged own something like a pair of trousers (sorry, "pants". Although maybe that too) in American flag pattern, which is also technically against their flag rules.

She literally took studs from a lunging defender to her torso...you guys are deluded by your dislike for Americans I think.

Is this thing about equal pay for the US team only or womens football in general?
It started as not getting the same pay as the USA men from the USA federation. Then it merged into a bigger issue with FIFA not paying out for women the same as men I believe.
