I'm getting arsenal fans now saying that they should pay the 25m and get him. They genuinely think he'd go there.

each to their own...not doubting he is a great defender but 25m for most clubs is a huge chunk when he is a free agent next year

Agree. Especially if he’s looking at 150/200K a week. If he signs a 3 year contract with someone at 200k a week, that’s just under £30M in wages so a total package of £55M.

If he moves to Roma that basically confirms Poch is forcing him out, I can't see any potential benefit to him moving there

Wouldn't be to surprised if he was okey with going there. The man clearly wants a good pay day n will go wherever that might happen.

Roma asking for a discount is laughable since the only reason he's being allowed to go for 25m is due to a clause. He is worth at least double that

Maybe Levy is listening to his manager and a very regular gripe on here about moving players out - just get it (the deal) done and move on.

Very un Levy like though.

There's not much to negotiate from Levy's point of view. The question is, can Roma convince Toby to go there and I'd have massive doubts that they can. I'd imagine Levy's stance on this would be that making contact with Roma would probably persuade some other clubs to come out of the woodwork. IMO, he goes for 25m or runs his contract out.

Would Levy take a lower price (than the clause) to sell him out of our league?

Avoids strengthening a league rival and backlash from fans.

Toby could be sold it, on basis he could negotiate a greater salary from Roma, on the difference they 'saved'.

There are worse places to live and he gets a good payday.

Roma seem to have been mentioned a few times, which I find odd. Unless Toby is genuinely just after a change of scenery having realised he isn't going to sign for one of the 'elite' clubs at his age, what is he gaining?

That has to be it if rly wants to go there. He'll not get significantly richer there you would think.

Roma may want him but Toby would be better of running his contract down if he wants cash.

Could we put a clause in his sale that if Roma sell to a PL club we get a large percentage of the sell-on fee.

What's to stop Roma buying for under £25m, and then cashing in to a PL team for double that in 6 months?

I doubt it's true mate. Baldini does have a good relationship with DL, but I expect he wants to keep it that way. Asking him for players on the cheap is not going to make that so.
