The reason Alli looked good isn't just form - it's cos we weren't playing 2 up top like we did for most of last season.

This meant Alli's position was much higher and he had licence to get behind and make runs - which is exactly how he got 28 league goals in 2 seasons. His time playing deeper does seem to have helped him though - as a youngster he used to drift out of games but today he knew when to slip back and provide support.

I hope Poch sticks with this system. It gets the best out of Kane and Alli, Son and/or Lucas provide width and pace out wide, and we look much more cohesive defensively.

This RM side is in a real mess. Have had a very poor pre-season. Got smashed by BM & AM and now lost again today.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they start throwing more money on new signings before their TW closes.

Not much talk on ndombele which makes me think he didnt play well and people are too scared to say it. Honest opinions welcome. Does he look fit? Forward passes? Was he more advanced of Winks?

Thanks

Thought it was a good pre season run out. First 20-30 minutes in particular we produced some nice moves

Tanganga and Parrott look very promising

Looked slightly off the pace (not surprising) but I thought he looked excellent at times. Loves to bring the ball forward, run with it, looks for a forward pass. Played along side Winks and seemed to compliment each other nicely. Really excited to see them run out against Villa. Think they'll boss it.

Had some lovely touches - little first time balls and cute turns. Didn't do anything spectacular but he's clearly our most intelligent passer in midfield and will make things happen.

Physically he looked a bit leggy and lethargic but put in a shift and looked better than previous games. I got the impression he wasn't giving it anything like 100% but I think he'd be fine in a 2 against most teams when he's a bit sharper and fitter. Him and Winks interchanged but he got forward more and had a good shot palmed away for a corner.

We have Sissoko until he is up to speed fitness wise.

Always difficult to assess preseason, but I thought we did OK & like others I thought Tanganga looked good & for once I though Skipp did well & didn't see much difference between him & Winks.

I'm guessing most new players will take time to get to grips with our training sessions. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts to fade towards the end of the season (unless rotated)

To be fair, even though we've only made one signing, several of the youngsters looking competent is a big plus and definitely improves the squad. The same couldn't really be said last summer.

I see no way Oliver Skipp is worse than Dier and Wanyama. The guy can tackle almost as well as both whilst having much greater mobility and better ability to show for the ball. His passing needs a bit of work but that's not exactly one of Dier's strong points either.

I see no way Troy Parrott is worse than Llorente. His physique and skills are much more suited to a Pochettino press.

I see no way Walker-Peters is worse than Trippier. I'm not saying he's Cafu, but as I said, no worse than Trippier on several viewings now.

Tanganga also looks superb and could ease any potential CB worries next summer.

It might be time to put faith in these 4 now, they are already at a decent level and I can only see them all improving. For me, the only player now required in the next few days is Lo Celso, as long as Eriksen is still with us.
