The key to success is buying French/african, and Comolli has brought in Assou-Ekotto, Zokora, Kaboul, Adel Taarabt, Malbranque, Chimbonda. He has also brought in good talents from other cultures with raw talent.

If you see all the top Clubs, they build French/african.

No, the key to sucess is to bring in players who will improve the squad no matter what age or nationality they are. Its about getting the right balance of players who can rely on each other and play off one another with a manager in charge who has the backing from the fans, players and the board.

Perhaps Spursking should check through United, Chelsea and Liverpool's squad lists before making factually incorrect statements. And Chelsea have announced they are buying no more African players, however good.

I agree that it is all about the balance, but if you see all the top clubs in Europe, you will see that most of the successful teams have a French/African base. It is all about buying the right playerprofiles in every position, and consider attributes for every player in every position.

If you look at the teams who are leading their leagues in England, Germany, Spain, Italy, Scotland, you will see that almost all clubs have a French/african player with an important role in their team.

England: Arsenal - Built with French/African players

Italy: Inter - Vieira as their important man in midfield.

Spain: Barcelona - Abidal, Thuram Yaya Toure, Eto'o, Henry - All imortant members of the team.

Germany: Bayern Munch - Willy Sagnol, Valerien Ismael, Franck Ribery as important members.

Scotland:Celtic and Rangers: Balde and Perrier Doumbe as important members in Celtic's team. Faye, Darcheville and Cousin important players for Rangers.

* The base is to find the right player profiles no matter which country they come from, but if you see all the top clubs, they have an important French/African player in their team. That is no surprise to me. Players from countries like Suriname, Braziil and other South American countries are also much represented in the top teams, and that is also not a surprise. It is all about how you build the team.

Having one or two top French-African players is not the same as 'building' French-African.

Sagnol and Ismael have yet to make a league appearance for Bayern. Baldé hasn't played for Celtic, Doumbe has made just three appearances. You're using selective, atypical examples and making stuff up.

The large European teams have a much larger South American influance on their team. Its more difficult for brittish team to do this because of work permits.

Italy; AC Milan-Dida, Cafu, Emerson, Kaka, Serginho, Digao, Ronaldo (all from Brazil)

Inter Milan -Maxwell, Adriano, J Cesar, Maicon, Cesar (all from Brizil), Cruz, Burdisso, Cambiass, Solari (all from Argentina)

Spain- Barcelona-Ronaldinho, Gomes, Sylvinho (from Brazil) Milito, Messi (from Argentina)

Real Madrid-Robinho, Marcelo, Baptista (from brazil), Gago, Heinze, Saviola, Higuaín (from Argentina)

Germany- Bayern Munich; Lúcio, Zé Roberto (from Barzil) Demichelis, Ernesto Sosa (from Argentina)

Even Liverpool, ManU and Chelsea have Brazilians oer Argentenians in their team.

World Rankings, Argentina are second and Brazil are third

And each team (apart from Inter) had a good number of players from their own country as well.

Real had no French or African players at all last season, and only have one this. Villareal have Pires, Cygan :)rofl:) and Mavuba, who has only played in the UEFA Cup. Sevilla have four, Valencia one, Atletí none. Juve have three, but only Trezeguet is any good; Roma have four, but only two of consequence; Milan have three, of whom only one has played, and that not much; Fiorentina two, and again only one has played. You can do the same for the Bundesliga and the Eredivisie.

So, to say 'all the top clubs build French/African' is a complete misrepresentation of reality. Even Arsenal, the supreme exception that proves the rule, rarely have more than five or six French-African players on the pitch at once.

That's not strictly true. Mo Diarra was very much there last season, and in fact scored the goal that won La Liga.

I agree with the rest though

I don't think Comolli has got his fully influence on transfers even though he has been responsible for the players signed since he came to the club. I think that if he had had his fully influence, we had not signed players like Rocha, Bent, Murphy, Rasiak. Instead we had signed young promising players from France, and saved money. We had got future prospects with a great future.

this is the problem, i want us to sign young promising players, but i dont give a shit where they are from as long as they have the potential to make the grade.

There are other countrys out there outwith France. You seem to be very blinkered in your views SK. The Dutch teams have a very good youth set up and have been bringing through good youngsters for some time.

Whats your view on Bale then? should we have signed him? was he a long term target from moomoo?

I am not saying that I want us to sign only talents from France. I know there are a lot of talents in Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Israel, Africa, Germany, The whole South America, etc... So many places to pick talents.

I think Bent was very much Camolli's signing and I am 100% certain that he bought Rocha, (although I forgive him for that because it was a rush signing)
