There has been a bit of talk about our signings and general transfer window activity and I have to say I believe it has been questionable. Not to diminish some great signings we have made in the past, but If Jol & Comolli had truely done their absolute all during the transfer window, opened their eyes and actually spotted some worthwhile talent (apart from Bale and Kaboul) and experience then we could be doing ALOT better than we are. Now I'm not usually one to talk about what could have been, but just consider this: (Not trying to be the manager here or anything! :razz
Chimbonda Kaboul Rocha Bale
Lennon Huddlestone Elano Petrov
Berbatov Keane/Defoe

-No Bent!!!! Overpriced to hell and back! I think we can all agree. 16.5 million, I mean it really was an outrage.
-16.5 million to buy Elano & Petrov, plus more for a reasonably priced striker instead like Roque Santa Cruz, who would actually be scoring! He was undisclosed, but I'm assuming he wasn't overly pricey.
-Petrov: Classy, proven winger, creates goals as well as scores them. Adds the important element of experience.
-Elano: A skillful, intelligent playmaker who can let rip from 25 yards and bang in the free kicks... basically, everything that Jenas isn't. Or is, once every second blue moon. Also, has valuable experience.
Now these would have been reasonable, realistic options surely. There’s nothing unrealistic about them, or ultimately ‘out of our league’ like Sneijder or Drenthe. Just a player we most likely rejected because of wages (Petrov) and a player who to my knowledge, wasn't even rumoured to have been looked at and was snatched up by bloody City! (Elano) … I mean, CITY!! I'm pissed off. I wonder if Comolli even knew he existed. Like I said, not a great deal of point in talking about what could have been, but it does beg questioning of how we operated in the last transfer window.
