Poch kept playing them. That wasn't on Levy. Bloody hope not anyway. But not whipping them into submission does him no good as a manager.
Interestingly a pal of mine said same re Benitez
I’m not surprised.. I was hopeful that our best manager since burkinshaw would ‘turn it around’. I feel the inability to sign players in those ‘void’ windows cost poch his role. But the reality - for me - is that the decision to sack him is still raw, surprise or not. Don’t get me wrong, he was skating on thin ice. But I like him; he seems a decent individual with intelligence and integrity. Rafa, Maureen - your fave I know - or a n other. I am a little excited by the changeLook why is everyone so surprised, when players stop playing for a manager the inevitable always happens, very rarely are they able to turn things around, unfortunately for Poch the relationship ran it's course, sad but true.
You joke, but any interim manager would be well advised to consult frequently with Kane.Inevitable really. not entirely his fault - the club let him down on the promises they made when he signed his new contract in May but he hasn’t managed the unsettled squad enough to get results and that’s not great management.
Saturday’s going to be interesting if Levy doesn’t have a replacement sorted. Can’t see him pulling on a tracksuit.
Kane to become the youngest player manager in history? (Joking of course)
Exactly. That was on poch.Poch kept playing them. That wasn't on Levy. Bloody hope not anyway.
I think a clanger is a bit strong. No other team in the PL – having the results and performances we've had the last 12 months – would be in a job, certainly none of the top 6.Wrong desicion for me, players have to shoulder some blame for not performing. Don't want Mourinho at all he will make us too defensive. Go all out to get Rogers, but I somehow doubt he will come. Allegri is the next choice, not against Eddie Howe but maybe too soon for him. I feel Levy has dropped a huge clanger in sacking Poch, but only time will tell.
As I said the current situation isnt all on Poch. But it looks to me like players just arent responding to anything he says or tries. In a way he'd lost the dressing room. How many managers have you seen - at a club with our supposed stature - in the position Poch had been put into by the board and other circumstances/variables converging on eachother? It's a pretty unique situation, almost 5 players outright wanting out for a good year, contracts running down (something I never imaged Levy would do after Sol Campbell situation), injury issues, adapting to a new stadium and not being allowed to sign a player for about 18 months, previous to the last window.
How is a new manager going to solve those issues?
They won't; it's now a waiting game to clear out the deadwood and rebuild, no matter who comes in. I find it doubtful it would make any difference to this season but obviously cannot prove that either way.
He outright told us to be patient as a rebuild was neccessery; combined with how we do business (and I'm not a Levy hater), that required time. I'd of rather showed some loyalty - which he had more than earned - and given him that time and backing to do so than bring in a new manager in. He had completed a transition period with us once before in which we came out the other side a much, much better team - after suffering through some shit - no reason to think he wouldn't of been able to do so again. Just IMHO.
Best post on here. Absolutely Spot onIMO Poch lost it in Dec 2018 when he refused to rule himself out of the running for the Man Utd role. After that our form dipped and never recovered. I think Levy and the team saw a different Poch at that time, perhaps someone who was no longer 100% committed and looking to exit. Combined with the I'll quit if we win the CL statement which was a big distraction and must have had an impact on the players, was completely unnecessary.
It is a sad day, Poch put us back towards the top, CL final, prestige and gave us identity, hope and joy. It has been amazing to watch the team at times. Hopefully we get someone in who can carry it on. Good luck Poch.
Good God man.Dear Mauricio
You gave your heart and soul to this football club. I have supported Spurs for over fifty years and am ashamed to be a Spurs supporter tonight. Thank you for the miracles you performed with no money. You will be a great manager, just somewhere else. It’s a sad day for this great club when the money men take over from the people who know and love football. As Keith Burkinshaw once said “There used to be a football club there”. You won’t be forgotten. Thanks for the memories.
Good God man.
