Strikers #thfc are looking to sign this month include AC Milan's Krzysztof Piątek, Olympique Lyonnais' Moussa Dembélé and SSC Napoli's Arkadiusz Milik. | @MirrorDarren
Can't believe we are after Dembele when we passed on him due our concerns with his knees!

I have some Italian family who are Milan fans and much of what they said about Piatek has been said on here already but they’re quite positive about how well he could do for Spurs.

The main rhetoric is that Milan is a crazy club right now with huge player turnover and manager changes, the atmosphere is quite toxic as they’ve fallen from where they used to be and all their recent spending hasn’t helped them too much, so all in all it’s so hard for many players to properly settle and be given a good go.

As for Piatek, he’s 6ft, decent finisher, confident player, can link up play a bit but more as people have said a fox in the box gets the ball and looks to score, if we can get the pre-Milan Piatek then he will be a very astute signing, should be much better than Janseen for a number of reasons.

Thanks for posting. I’d much rather go off people’s opinions than YouTube highlights because we all know how misleading those can be. One thing is for definite, that celebration has to go if he joins us!

The club can do what they want but if fans think a Milan reject is gonna come in and immediately replace Kane’s output they will be disappointed. I think it would be much more wise to get a Son rotation option for the wing and rely on Son for goals up front.
I actually agree with that. I'd much rather get in a Zaha to play LW while Son plays up top. We'll see how this goes though.

Polish news article and translation:
(...)

It's only a round-up of various gossips and rumours, wouldn't pay much attention to it.

There are couple of Polish journalists, who might know a thing or two about this, but if it's unfolding quickly, then I'd say they will only write something at the end.

I'd much rather Zaha, but if we're going to keep lumping long balls up as we have the past few games then Piatek does make more sense. I just hope he's someone we were looking at before Kane's injury, rather than a panic buy.

I tend to agree, especially if Poch was still here. It seems Jose is less keen on using Son as a striker though so Piatek does seem to fit the bill for him.

If you approach this transfer from the viewpoint that:

1) The way Mourinho wants to play evolves around an athletic striker
2 ) His job will primarily be to take some of the burden of HK / deputies when HK is injured / Be an option from the bench
3) We should have brought in a designated second striker as soon as Llorente left

...it makes sense. It really is the kind of business that we should have done a long time ago anyway.

Hytner at the Guardian is one of the better Spurs sources. Generally when he has weighed in that Spurs are in negotiations for a player they've wrapped up a deal in the next week or so (he published "in negotiations" articles about both Moura and N'Dombele prior to those deals being wrapped up), although his article says they have "joined the chase" which perhaps isn't the same thing.

sooner he links us to Mbappe the better

Whatever it is, a supposed quick deal like this will be beneficial in any case. So much better than having such intensive rumours 3 weeks later.

Extensive research from my part have conluded that it's a big no due to his noncey run up when taking a penalty.

On a serious note, as long as there is some sound strategy to getting a forward in, I'm all for it, but simplisticly speaking, a genuinely good defensive midfielder would probably do our attacking more good than a forward right now.

So when he scored his goals for Milan was wearing 19 and this season he switched to number 9 and has struggled! What is it with that number 9 shirt these days

He wore 9 at Genoa and did perfectly well... I say give him the no9 shirt. When was our last good no9, Berbatov? Oh man what I’d give for a player like him in our team.

(Not ITK)- if we bring him in I think it’s good business. Realistically we won’t be able to attract the elite level strikers to sit on the bench as they want playing time. Any striker that comes in will have to put in a shift until April until they become an option off the bench and nothing more. Liverpool have Origi but wouldn’t exactly call him elite. Chelsea don’t have an elite striker. City have Jesus, who is probably the best backup striker in the league but has not shown that he is an elite goal scorer. Llorente played the same role but was completely immobile due to his age. This guy is younger, plays a very similar way to Harry Kane and presses extremely well/effectively.

I can’t get my head around the club seems to think it’s a good idea to bring in a striker for 30m?

When Kane is back we all know how it goes.

KP will be gone in 2 years, and he’s still pretty young.

Why not spend another 20 and get someone who can play WF and Striker like Zaha, basically another Son?

Had a talk with a Serie A fan. His opinion was he is unsure if he would help us. He is not a good battler and can look kind of lost when he faces lots of defenders or quality defenders. If we feed him he will score his goals. Probably won't add a lot to our overall play aside from some pressing.
Lets see...
