Aurier must have gotten ahold of a video series or something about how to defend in football during quarantine, as he's gotten better and better at the primary role of his position. My props to him. I thought surely he was finished under Mourinho, but he's been quite good in recent games.
I rate Aurier, I think he has qualities. I also think his defensive game has improved massively in the past few months, even before quarantine. However, the last two games he has been the weakest link defensively. Still a hero for playing and fighting though.

Now, I will say that obviously people do have the right to their opinion and yes, it was an encouraging result without getting too carried away but am I bang out of order in having this image when someone greets another decent result by moaning about the football?

Players got a rest, son and Kane back.
Jose got extra time working with the squad.
The break has been good for us

Yep. No way we would have finished 6/7th if the season had carried on normally. More like 14/15th with the injuries in front of goal.

Plus we didn’t have to rush Harry Kane back for once.

The best teams that win stuff now don’t play how we play because the game has moved on. We play like a team that is trying not to lose games not a team trying to win them. In the end that won’t be enough to win things.

”that won’t be enough to win things” - Interesting. May I ask on what basis you are saying that? The last time we won something was when the ball ricocheted off Woodgates face from a Jenas freekick 12 years ago. It’s not like we have played any winning brand of football. Man City are owned by a country. Liverpool don’t seem to suffer from any injuries and have taken about 3-4 years to reach where they are. Who are these “best teams” that you are referring to?

A hard-earned three points against 1970 Brazil 1974 Holland Cruyff's Barcelona Leicester.

Sissoko was shocking today. Touch was poor and he was unable to see the correct pass over the obvious one. Good squad player but essential we upgrade in the summer if we are to up our possession percentage and start dictating play

After a disastrous season, I think we can finally see light at end of tunnel.. Bring on next season.. I'd love us to be brave in transfer market & pair Belotti with Kane.. We'd tear defences apart.. know money isn't there.. So just dreaming
If Kane plays with a strike partner it should be someone with extreme pace. If we could find someone who makes intelligent runs and is rapid Kane having two targets for his passes and pinged balls with Son and A Nother would cause trouble to the opposition.

A lot of Brendan Bashing going on - not entirely sure why.

Mourinho Masterclass. 5-2-1 since the restart.

We look a solid team with a clear game plan and tactical flexibility. And confidence is clearly building. Also he is clearly doing something right on rest and recovery - the players don’t look so bloody tired anymore. Towards the end under Poch and before COVID under Jose everyone seemed to be running on fumes.
For me, it was his snide remarks after we sold Bale when he stuck the knife in publicly saying we should be challenging for the league for the money we got from the sale. It was arrogant posturing off the back of a good season when Suarez was lethal for Liverpool and a sign of his self-promotional
Instincts overriding any decorum.

Then Suarez was sold and despite reinvestment, Liverpool slumped and he was fired. If such a thing as karma exists, that was it right there. He’s an old fashioned, self serving, ruthless twat

And what did we win not playing like that ....Sweet F All

Hard to really rate the second half today as the game was won and it looked like we were happy to just see it out. Kept a clean sheet, no injuries and Kane is back in form. Overall very happy with today.

Lloris - our best player since restart IMO, came up with big saves today a few different times.
Aurier - not at this best today but has improved since the restart. I'd keep him as a backup if he would be happy to lose some playing time.
Sanchez - Our only fast CB. He is rash at times but can also cover more ground than anyone. His headers were on point today but he did have a few bad moments.
Toby/Davies - Grouping them together because they are alike in the aspect they are both just consistent. Each can put in a great performance every now and then but mostly they are just really good consistently. Today was another really good game.
Sissoko - I'm a big fan but today he was off. Poor touches and bad passing but did cutout some balls that could have been dangerous by LC and defended well.
Winks - Best half he has played in a while. Second half he wasn't great. I'd rotate him with Sissoko but never play together.
Lo Celso - Pretty bad overall today. Lucky to not get a card a few times.
Lucas - Poor start but turned it on defensively after the first water break.
Son - Bad all around today and his first shot attempt. Slipped in key moments, didn't play a few balls through when he should have and was caught offside in a couple big opportunities.
Kane - no words needed

Jose - Got it right again today. The gameplan to start the match was on point and gave us a big early lead. Second half was just seeing out the result. Job done.

Those 2. Liverpool were in 3 European Cup finals in a row so the 4 seasons thing is wrong. They were clearly a good team playing good progressive football as soon as Klopp took over. He has been amazingly lucky with injuries which is why they won the league so easily this year. Man City bought the best players for every position but also have a very progressive manager who always plays on the front foot. We now try and nick every game which doesn’t work if we go behind for too long as we don’t know how to play with the ball.

Rafeal Leao could be that..he just needs to learn to get himself in goalscoring positions. I'd personally like a player similar to Kane in attributes. An alround player

No. It’s the same as Brighton and Sheffield Utd with a different result.
We created a lot of chances in that first half. More than what we did in both those games put together (I assume you mean Bournemouth not brighton). After a wobbly 20 minutes at 1-0 we got a second breakaway goal and we shut the game down perfectly. The context is completely different. those games are really incomparable, apart from maybe Bournmouth, but we attacked so much more effectively today.

If we conceded first, then maybe there might have been issues. But its hard to say as that didn't happen. Both against Arsenal and against Newcastle we came back from setbacks well and controlled the game without the ball. We look incomparably better going forwards than those few games. While being defensively solid.

This.

I'm a Sissoko fan but he'd forgotten he was a footballer today.
