The ref himself should have admitted he was wrong, made his apologuies for the error and had the card recinded.

That should be ref PLURAL. There were two clowns involved (Dowd & Rennie), against FA rules, and they were both blind at the time, and dumb afterwards.

And that comes after Riley failing to give us a pen and a Red card against Green against the Spammers.

It makes a mockery of the entire appeals system. If they're not going to rescind a universally recognised undeserved red card what is the point of having the process in the first place?

Has anyone got an email address to the FA where I can vent a little spleen?

Confirmed on Official site.

Was never going to get overturned, even though they know it was wrong, the brum players and management said it was wrong, TV evidence clearly showing it was wrong and 35,000 fans inside WHL knowing it was wrong we still had no chance of getting it rescinded, for the simple fact that the FA would have to admit that their referee who is paid shit loads of money to get these decisions right actually got it wrong and more importantly had a 4th official who by their own admission is not fit to pass judgement on premier league games had the final say on the decision. Now they can just sweep it under the carpet because its only tottenham and no1 really gives a fcuk! Imagine if that was Rooney, Terry, Gerrard or Fabregas? What a complete crock of sh!t.

Spot on....its a disgrace but a predictable disgrace. The FA have now shown themselves for what they are. Twats....they have backed an official who was clearly wrong and did not have the decency to own up to a mistake and the FA have now compounded that mistake. They are more interested in saving face when a straight.."yep we got it wrong" would have made them the good guys instead of incompetents.

Shouldn't be surprised, a disgraceful decision from the f.a, but they've always being screwing the likes of us, because if it was one of the goons or the other so called big four it would have probably been rescinded, I've thought for a while that there's one rule for them and one rule for the rest of us and with the vast amounts of money sloshing around in the game, it's highly unlikely our game is clean.

To be posted to the FA complaints department tomorrow (for all the good it'll do):

To whom it may concern,

As a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur FC, I wish to take this opportunity to complain in the strongest possible terms over the handling of Robbie Keane’s red-card appeal.

I have spoken to many football fans, some of whom support Spurs and some who don’t and not a single one of them has anything but the harshest words to express regarding Phil Dowd’s decision.

Video replays conclusively prove that Robbie Keane’s challenge was fair and he made contact with the ball before colliding with Fabrice Muamba, who himself apologised to Keane after the match for his (Keane’s) dismissal. In addition, Robbie Keane’s record speaks volumes as to the type of player he is. Before Sunday’s game, in a career spanning 10 years, he had received only one red card. Would the FA explain how this squares with Phil Dowd’s and Uriah Rennie’s judgement that Robbie Keane’s actions were malicious?

I would like to know under what guidelines or regulations Robbie Keane’s appeal was rejected. I defy the FA to demonstrate in what manner they believe that Robbie Keane committed any offence at all let alone one that Phil Dowd, in consultation with an unqualified official, believed to be a red card offence.

Furthermore, could the FA also explain Uriah Rennie’s presence at the match? If Phil Dowd had for some unforeseen reason been unable to complete the match, then in that situation, Uriah Rennie would have filled in for him, yes? In that particular circumstance, the game would have been officiated by an unqualified referee. What is the justification for Uriah Rennie being anywhere near the match in an official capacity?

If the FA is in charge of maintaining standards in football, does it not believe that decency and fair treatment should apply to itself as well as those involved on the pitch? Or does the FA maintain that it is above the very standards it seeks to enforce?

The FA’s image has already been heavily tarnished as a result of its recent decisions. Many supporters are openly questioning the efficacy or relevance of the body. Many blame the poor results at international level on a perceived lack of gumption. The body is bringing itself into disrepute. The last thing it needs is a further blemish on its already creaking reputation.

As if the FA were going to come out and not back the ref. Only way he would of got off was for Dowd to publicly announce his error and apoligise to the football community for being a complete twat and lacking any knowledge of the great game. :duh:

nice post Rez, wish i had even a shred of hope that it will actually be read by anyone who will actually be in a position to act on it, let alone one who will actually do something.

Personally i think the FA are a bunch of coffin-dodgers with no real grasp of the modern game but, steeped in so much "tradition", it manages to avoid any real protest as to the way it's being run. It has a sort of safety-curtain around it, built around a blind faith from powerful people both in and out of the game - it's the epitomy of an old-boys society with secret handshakes and the motto "Vos scratch meus tergum ego mos scratch vestri"

It's time someone stood up and proposed that the entire FA commitee process be thrown open to at least the clubs and players, or maybe even the public. As the sole body controlling our interests in local, national and world football, they are an incredibly closed-curtain bunch.

That and Barwick looks like one of my old teachers and he was a ****, so f*ck him for that too

Great, so we're without our captain and top scorer heading up to the Christmas period, which we always do crap in...

If Match of the Day can conclusively show the decision to be wrong, and even get Lee Dixon to say it was a bad decision, then surely the game's governing body can reach the same conclusion...

Rez, if you even get so much as an automated reply to that I'll be astonished...

A time for either BEnt or Defoe to show what they are worth. Lets hope they are fired up and really stake a claim to be kept in the side
