From the Observer review of Norwich's 7th win in 9 games
to open up an 8 point gap to 3rd. place Bournemouth.

Farke’s side were fuelled by Cantwell and Buendía,
while Oliver Skipp, the Tottenham loanee, was quietly assured.

Genuine question.

How many people have actually watched Norwich play this season?

Quite a few of their games have been on Sky. Skipp has always played well but not really a standout. But he does his job in the team very well so you won't really notice him unless watching your him specifically. However Norwich play a completely different style of football to us, and obviously are in a lower division. So while I think most of the people that watch Skipp rate him highly, there is still a doubt for me anyway that he could be a success in this Mourinho team playing how we do.

Thanks, I think I’ve only seen about ten minutes of a Norwich game all season, and he didn’t touch the ball ?

I think you’re right to mitigate expectations as you do, but wrong to ignore the factors which mitigate those concerns, I.e. his age... he has an absolute tonne of development in him, and the pure and simple fact that if he’s as good and has as much footballing intelligence as people make out, he won’t be restricted to just one role and style of football.

Until he comes back ???

I get ESPN+ here in the states, I use it to watch Norwich games ( when they decide to air them) and all Spurs related cup games.

For Hanley, the England under-21 international doesn't receive enough plaudits.

“Skippy’s got experience beyond his years really, he looks like he’s played at the top level for 10 or 15 years, it’s hard to think that he’s still so young.

“I know he gets a lot of credit but then he probably doesn’t get enough sometimes, because he does all the stuff that you love as a centre-half, Kenny’s the same.

Great to hear that his current teammates share my sentiment.

I’ve been trying to recall who Skipp reminded me of and it’s finally clicked - Terry Naylor. I guess it’s his build and complexion mainly but both tend to wave their arms around when running. Obviously, one needs to be fairly “mature” to remember Naylor but I would be interested if anyone else sees the similarity.

Another mature performance from Skippy.

Love this - he's filled out a bit and it looking so much more assured and confident than he was at Spurs.

His long passing is better than I expected and he's generally quite positive on the ball - much more willing to try things than Winks for example.

Don't mean to shit on Winks too much, but for those who have said "but this is only the Championship", I'd be amazed if Winks would look half as good as this if the roles were reversed and Winks was the one at Norwich: I simply think Skipp is a better player with a lot more in his locker.

As far as I am aware Skipp was much higher rated in the youth teams than Winks who was always behind Onomah in terms of hype and expectation.

Winks had a really quick progression from promising youngster to first team player, whereas Skipp has always played above his age group and shown real maturity in his play.

Skipp seems to have a Harry Kane type mentality/attitude and also has the ability to back it up so really hopeful he will become an established first team player for us and England within a year or two.

Only time will tell though so need to be patient and allow him to grow into Senior football.

Likes to reverse the play when he can.
Doesn't always play the obvious short pass. Often more progressive.
Range of passing impressive.
Him and Hójbjerg will be aforce next season.
Like the boy.

The way Norwich play is really perfect for his style, it wouldn't be the worst thing for him to be on loan there next season in the prem but I could also see him getting minutes with us if Winks, Sissoko are potentially moved on.

He does get a lot of time on the ball in the championship and it remains to be seen how he would cope in the Premier against high pressing teams.

Naylor was maybe a good 3 inch taller.
