Stories about Sissoko signing for any other club = 27 clicks. And those are from his family and one guy who's mouse misbehaved

Stories about Kane signing for any other club = 100,000 clicks

That's fair though, I think we are guilty of forgetting what a big pull Kane is. England captain going into a summer international tournament, his face is going to be on every newspaper for the next 2 months anyway.

Actually, City are very rational with their spending. They have lots of top players that cost £50-70m but none that have cost more than £70m. They have passed on a number of previous top targets because of price.

Are they going to double (or more) their biggest ever transfer fee for a 28 year old with a history of ankle problems? Because that’s what it will take.
This is true. Am I right thinking their signings are generally players younger than 28?

But they do have the money and might see Kane as an exception.

this did have the very strong sense of deja vu.

levy's just doing to the player what he's done to us: selling us the dream of what can be so we don't question what it is. i really don't see anything changing whilst he remains involved with the club.

I don't know what you'd want to be different. We've spent money, hired one of the most prolific trophy winners in recent managerial history, and in the above case, kept a world class striker longer than most clubs would. He's played in the biggest final in club football recently, and in two others, and scored no goals and not really performed.
I'm not sure what the criticism of the club is? Should we have not tied him to a new contract? Should we just agree to let him go?

3 cup finals no goals a one on one against Leicester that would have very likely won us the league had it gone in. If he's desperate to win a trophy do it when it matters he has had every chance to win the biggest trophies with us and he didn't deliver on the big day. No one at spurs has let him down and we are perfectly capable of challenging for trophies. He is a world class player and our best but I don't buy this spurs cant challenge bollocks. If he had banged in the goals in the decisive games but we went on to concede 4 then fair enough but thats not the case I will always see players moving to a club guaranteed to win trophies whether they perform as individuals or not as weak.

Wait who was his backup striker again? :cautious:

Indeed but then there was Modric who had a long contract and we made him stay a season rather than selling him to a rival. If this was a monster bid coming from the continent I might think differently, but as it isn't I'll believe the club line that he's not going anywhere this Summer. I can't see him striking or putting in an official transfer request so I very much think he will still be here next season.
The problem is that’s it’s gonna be very hard for the new coach to build anything like the unity we had during prime Poch when all the players know our star man is sitting there and wants to be somewhere else. The politics in the dressing room will be prickly. I’m all for keeping Kane, but it’s not gonna be simply a case of expecting him to get on with it and everything will be fine.

Ladbrokes wouldn’t even give me a price on him staying but you can bet on his next club which speaks volumes. I keep saying it but it’s really very very simple:

NO-ONE CAN AFFORD HIM THIS SUMMER, A LITTLE THING CALLED COVID HAPPENED, CALM THE FUCK DOWN!

Totally agree, always hated that narrative that the club lets him down, he's had 3 cup finals and put in a very poor performance in all 3 .
Regardless I don't envision him leaving until next summer at the earliest when he has 2 years left on his contract.

Crazy that a few seasons back we finished with 86 points (man city currently on 83) if Levy had just seriously invested took the risk like poch said....dear oh dear . What a fuck up he's overseen football wise

Kane, under Pep, in that team is a terrifying prospect.
Agree. City looked ready to dominate for a number of years. But Liverpool last season were excellent and Chelsea are spending big. No team has dominated the Prem for a very long time.

Kane going to City could make them pretty dominant.

I'll just add I would expect him to get the Levy handshake this Summer(same as Luka) if we haven't progressed and you want to go next year I'll let you go at a reasonable fee.

Kane won't sulk or be anything but professional. I have no doubts whatsoever on that.

Anything less than £180 would be a poor return for him.
And I think I'd be more disappointed in him if he went to Man United.

Man City, Liverpool or Chelsea he is highly likely to win something. At Man United he might win something.

As amazing as Kane is, we have lost big players before. I'd be gutted, but we will survive.

There is no way Levy will sell unless Kane totally downs tools and I cannot see him doing that.

Would England winning the euros help the matter or do you think winning he would want more and hands in a transfer request?

You could have me for £180. I'm 39 so not much sell on value though.

It’s not even about that. He’s a good bloke, everyone knows that, but to get that special sauce you need everyone committed and all in it together. I just predict it’s gonna be hard for the coach to get that. Kane casts such a shadow over the whole club now.

For me this goes back to that Summer with no investment. We fell so far behind that it proved what a ridiculous decision that was from the board

Yeah, agreed. I said to my Liverpool supporting friend that the same drop off would happen with them when they didn’t spend in a window. He laughed. Now I’m laughing.
