What actually matters is he plays his heart out in a Spurs shirt, goals and assists are what will charm the panties off Spurs fans. He's better off letting football do the talking.

And yet for months we've all been saying we just want to connect to the team again. The silly / funny social media stuff is a part of that.

But I do agree that if he plays out of his skin for the season, the damage will be mitigated somewhat. Still think he'll be gone by Sept 1st though so it's all moot.

Neither of them are real Spurs legends. They are more Spurs heroes. Bill Nick is a legend, Blanchflower is a legend, Ardiles is a legend, even Villa due to his goal against MC. Hoddle is a Spurs Legend, so are Pat Jennings, Martin Chivers, Jimmy Greaves, Cliff Jones, etc. Legends are those players who live on in the legend of a club. It's often a fine line. Is Klinsmann a legend, is Modric a legend, is Garth Crooks a legend, or are they our former heroes?

TBH Shocked not to see Perryman mentioned

Yeah, him too. ?

He does have a wife that has been with him since childhood and a young family. So in terms of being alone, he certainly won't be. Professionally he might be, but his family won't have left him.
Of course not, mate. But that was not my point, either. I was referring to the film Citizen Kane. :geek:

Over the last few weeks I've started to get the impression that he feels all that is beneath him.

He really needs to go on a massive charm offensive however this plays out, and he's not exactly known for being able to charm the birds from the trees is he?
I suspect he feels, like he said on the pitch in one of the last few games of the season, 'what's the f*&king point!'.

I think the signs were there in the run-in that things were not right with Kane and the team. I suspect this has been bubbling away all last season in the background.

I don't know how Villa's solo goal makes him a legend but the better part of a decade of excellence (and many amazing goals) doesn't for Kane. People can define it however they want but if Kane isn't a legend - being arguably the best (or in the top handful) of players we've produced and over a very long period of time - I really don't know who is.

It sucks that this is how it is ending but I personally wouldn't want the final moments to erase 7 years.

He can be a legend and a disappointing dickhead.

Yeah I kinda think the reason he had such a blinding season in terms of his numbers is that he thought it was his swansong, as well as the entire team is set up to cater to him. I'm not convinced we'd get the same Kane this season.

I really don't think it is all about trophies with kane. It is all about money.
Manc can double his wage to £20m pa, and who's head wouldn't be turned.
He is completely selling out to a vile institution, but no-one can argue he is selling himself cheap.

Power is being able to make one of the most humble and respected players in the game dance to their tune. Now dance like a monkey. Now smear yourself with excrement. They are laughing their heads off at the classless Brit desperate for some dangled titbit, and too stupid to understand that he already has more food than he can ever eat.

It is so humiliating, but currently the kane-puppet is still more appetising than the sophisticated guardiola, sat on a pile of severed heads.

It's become Spur's self interest to stand their ground though now, hasn't it? If an acceptable bid came in it would be different, but the club simply cannot accept a low bid like £100m.

Agreed, the price has to be right, if they offer us someone like Laporte on top though I would take it, as it solves us spending money on another CB.

Laporte has to agree to downgrade though which i dont think many of cities players would be willing to do especially not after watching us for the past 2 seasons

How do you define legend anyway??

Kane has behaved like a total shit these last few days, but he is the second highest goalscorer in the the 139 year history of the club, and he came from our academy. Whatever has happened this week and however this plays out his name will be right there when the history of this club is being written. Which makes his behaviour this week all the more upsetting.

I'm not convinced on your first point. I think it is all about the trophies for him. The money is nice but, to be fair to him, I'm not sure that is what is driving Harry.

I am sure he would have remained committed to us had we continued to progress on the upward trajectory were were before the Champions League final and secured some silverware in the process. Just my opinion. I'd certainly move to Manchester for £400k a week. :)

Id bite, I cant see Laporte being overly interested or Bernardo.

I'm sorry but as brilliant a team as City obviously are, nobody in their side is going to give us what Kane gives us, and that's 20+ goals every EPL season, plus another 10 or so in the cups. That's what we'd need to replace. So, a straight mega cash offer only for me.

I’d add Mackay and Mabbutt to that list of legends

I think Gazza is a Spurs legend. Turned Fergie down for us and dragged us to the FA Cup final pretty much on his own just as the club were on the brink of bankruptcy. We then got a record transfer for him from Lazio when we badly needed the money.

Just shows how much City really want him.

They are more prepared to spend 100 mil on Grealish who isn't on Harry's level in terms of output but have no interest in paying the market worth for Harry. Knowing this, Harry is still trying to force our hands to sell him on the cheap yet the club he wants to move to just messed up the market again.

It's embarrassing that our best player has resorted to this and is willing to throw away everything so some club who are not even bothered if they get him or not, bids for him.

This man is meant to be one of our own, the club legend.
Exactly this! As Jamie Carragher writes in the Telegraph:
"Being a local player like Kane means you are judged to a different standard by your club’s supporters. (...) I just think you have to conduct yourself differently as a local player. You are held to a higher standard."

Being a legend is so subjective.

IMO a legendary player is someone who has dragged the club to achieve success. In some ways, Kane is a legend as he has been one of the key components of our success over the last 6/7 years, by making us a consistent champions league quality team. He is also our second highest goalscorer ever.

Other people would argue that you can only become a legend by winning silverware. So it really just depends on the person.

With the cash we got in any imaginary LaPorte part swap would be enough for any potential stroker we get. There is no way we would sanction the purchace of a £150m player, not that anyone worth that would come.
