Sigh.

So disappointed in him.

I completely understand the desire to do more. We all want that. Losing finals and semi finals is heartbreaking. But going to City would be sacrificing how he is thought of post-retirement for hollow honours. Carragher was right about that. I really hoped he'd be our Francesco Totti, staying with his club, setting records, becoming a hero, getting a statue outside the stadium and living off that reputation forever - and it's not like there haven't been chances to win the prizes! Collective failure, which he has been part of. If he moves, he goes from all of this at Spurs to just another player passing through at City. But that's up to him, money and medals might be all that counts and it doesn't matter where he gets them. Certainly that's the view stoked by the media, anyway.

What is most disappointing is the way this is being handled. As Trix has said in this thread, the whole thing can be solved with a phone call. Instead there are the interviews, the leaks, the snidey comments by Guardiola, and the clear read-between-the-lines instructions to kick up a fuss and make Spurs so sick of you that they will lower the price. If it turned out Charlie had been advised by City on what to do, would it realy be a surprise? It would be a clear case of tapping up, but that rarely goes anywhere and City are advertising for about 10 new legal positions this week so I think we know they are preparing for something big. FFP and the sponsorship fraud, probably.

I really hope Levy sticks to his guns on this one. He signed the contract without caveats and has to live with that.

Spurs should not accept any players from City. As has been said, there is a list of targets and no City players on it. We should NOT be helping them pad the fee with players they are happy to sacrifice and at the same time burdening the club with huge contracts. It should be all cash, up front. Or it should be dropped and everyone works on making amends. Not sure how that happens, but if he is to stay it will need to.

His brother's agency isn't going to be much of a success when they have done so much damage to the only client it has in such a short period of time. Still, at least he has a motorbike in his office. The skidmarks on the floor are so very apt.

It’s normal for superstars to develop an ego. Look at Messi and Ronaldo. You don’t get to be the best by being a pushover so it was inevitable that Harry would go grow an ego as well.

The two you mention drag teams to performance. Inspire. Their ego is warranted. Harry’s less (a lot less) so.

For what it's worth, I don't want Kane to leave. And although his statement is either not believed or not accepted by the majority of people on here, it is the ONLY
thing he can do to start repairing and accepting he is here for a longer term than he had actipated.

So I for one welcome today's statement.

I think he could have and should have, included an apology in his statement, which he hasn’t done so.

He is a highly paid professional, captain of his NT and vice captain of his club. Surely, he could have reacted in a more professional and respectful way just like how Grealish has done.

I think it’s likely that he will stay here for, at least, the next season, unless City decides to stump up the cash. It’s now up to him to move on ahead, whether here or elsewhere, but he has probably, indelibly lost the respect and trust of many fans.

I do think he has developed an ego. However, City aren't going to pay us enough to be able to adequately replace him.

If he is here on the 1st September, I'm going to treat it like its his last season at spurs. Hopefully he can at least lead by example on the pitch.
Wasn't there some ITK a few weeks back that Winks didn't like/get on with Kane? At the time it was taken by many on here as just another reason why Winks needed to go, but I'm now wondering if he might not be the only player in the squad with that view...

(And for the avoidance of any doubt, I'm not saying that I think we should keep Winks!)
Absolutely this, and the free kick thing is a perfect example of something that needs to be sorted out in this regard. We're supposed to be a team ffs, not a youtube highlight reel generator. It's embarrassing that we all know that this lemon is going to be standing over anything inside 30yds with his abysmal record, and that at best we can hope for a corner on what could be a shot on goal. He should want someone more adept taking it. We all should.

Definitely had his own way for far too long, and I hope that if he ends up being stuck here that he's been taken down a few pegs and we get back to what actually matters. I don't for one minute think that Nuno will allow him near a set piece thankfully. He doesn't seem the type to stroke an ego, thank christ.
We must consider how the other players may feel about all this, the loyal squad players. . If it upsets them, even just one, Kane needs to sit in the background and only be used desperately. If Kane stays he needs to be relegated to the bench and not feature in Nunos plans at all. he's spent. He will lose his England place as Alli did and become an example to others when you become spoilt.

This whole saga is exactly like an extra marital affair. The guy and mistress are both irritatingly detestablez ever since they started flirting with each other openly. Now the guy doesn't get to fuck the mistress anymore and got found out, he made up all sorts of excuses washing himself off the shames. Perhaps there is chance a divorce with the wife is not happening. But the broken trust and mutual feelings wouldn't be the same ever again.

Some people are well over reacting. Maybe just maybe this trip was his plan all along. The man has just had a really long season and got to the finals of the European championships as captain. He certainly deserves some time off whether he stays or goes!

You try telling your boss you’re taking an extra week off for holiday without getting it approved.

If Kane's threat to leave has made Levy properly put his hand in his pocket then Kane has done us all a favour.

Why does he deserve special treatment over every other player?
Has Hojbjerg not had a really long season?
Pandering to Harry has very likely created this self-important monster that he appears to have become.
The club said he needed to return to training and he took it upon himself to have an extra week off, thus missing our first game of the season!
What impression does that give to his team mates, us fans and his bosses?

I'm sorry but there's no way that can be dressed up as anything but what it is, a massive dick move.

Levy's been putting his hand in his pocket since we moved into the new stadium, as was planned all along.

and while we are on the subject of responsibility;
Kane started the covid pandemic, advised the government inadequately on handling the pandemic and caused global warming and climate change..

and tbh the club and team as a whole have been crap for the last few seasons whilst he scores and creates goals for fun. If he left based on the fact we dont win anything, I wouldnt hang around in my job if I wasnt supported to succeed either. Wouldnt blame him for that.

Hopefully Nuno will name his own captain and vice captains, and if Hugo is injured I’d like to see Højbjerg wearing the armband. And if he’s injured or suspended, then it should go to Skipp or Davies. Never want to see Kane wearing the arm band again after his shenanigans this summer.

Mate, if it was planned all along and the club were on board, do you honestly believe that for the sake of avoiding the damaging publicity we’ve endured all week, the club or Nuno when asked wouldn’t of just nipped it in the bud, by stating that? Please, love Kane but he’s made a mess of this

Ignoring your (quite odd) first paragraph and addressing your second: handle leaving respectfully properly. Not like a dickhead.

Respect you have a contract and respect the club’s position with its prized asset.

So they valued Sterling at 80m?
I actually think that's a realistic valuation for an experienced England international, compared to the prices Grealish and Sancho have just been bought for. Not that I agree for one minute that Kane is worth only 20M on top of that, for only 100M

Does he think we're stupid ffs, what an absolute crock of shite.

You had everything from us the fans and you've just blown it, not looking forward to seeing him in our colours again I'm afraid.
