Tanguy is probably the signing I am most let down by since I've been following us. Forget the fee and wages, the biy is so talented but just can't get himself to the required level of fitness and focus.

I don't think we are selling him personally, don't see the market for it this season. I think Nuno will be using the early weeks to run him into the ground and see how much he wants it. Providing Tanguy gets to the level we need, I see him coming in after the international break.

This really is last chance saloon at the club for him though. Three managers and three pre seasons suggest he needs to apply himself more. Hope he does it as he is a phenomenal talent.

He should be fit now, a basic requirement for any player not suffering from injury. People go in about Kane disrespecting his colleagues, thus guy is every bit as bad.

What?

Tanguy puts on weight on his holiday and that's the same as Kane trying to force a move through the media?

Really?

I agree its an overreaction ,its not as bad as kane but he has a point. No international tournament he shouldnt be unfit at all, zero excuses.

There’s a lot of games to play this season and Ndombele is one of the most talented players we have. Let Nuno work with him and see how he gets on. If we are playing a team that is parking the bus and we need something a bit special there is no one better to call upon.

talent is worthless if you dont have the mindset or determination... which tanguy unfortunately lacks.

On the plus side with Hojbjerg and Skipp forming a solid defensive partnership there’s only room for 1 more offensive midfielder in the team… yes there will be rotation but for now Alli, Lo Celso and N’dombele are all fighting for a place in the EPL
line up.

Against lesser teams, you may find he actually drops one of Skipp or Hojbjerg and plays just one holding with Lo Celso and Dele either side.

We cant have players who only play with the ball and look so bad without it.
We cant have players who can only play 70min in a game and then cant play the next game in 3 days
We cant have a player who lacks application, general awareness and tactical nous

We still have to pay this dude 41m in wages alone over next 4 years.Get him of the wage bill.
Ever since, Martinez was linked been saying , we should loan him out to Inter as sweetner...even if it means us paying some of his wages. Given the Eriksen situation, a loan as sweetner should help in a long way securing that deal.

Anybody get the feeling Tanguy will be out the door by the end of this window? I can see a loan with an option. The guy is on huge wages and not sure he makes Nuno’s plans this season, with Alli converted to CM and Skipp returning, not to mention Lo Celso, Hojbjerg and Winks/rumoured new signing.

It would be a shame as the talent is so clearly there, but don’t think it’ll work out, and his value will only deteriorate further if he’s not played.

Quoted from the ITK thread. If Nuno feels Ndombele isn't going to make it - let's face it the new system requires intensity and tenacity - then surely we need to moving him on to another club. He was Poch's choice for Spurs, it would be nice if he still fancied now at PSG.

Does he?

He would have been smarter keeping the weight off but I'm guessing he is an exomorph and has to work damn hard to keep the weight off. That's not really a holiday.

The negative hyperbole surrounding this guy is unreal.

It's like a death spiral of dignity into hyperbole, neg repping and group think.

I think 99% of Spurs fans know he is a very talented boy. In full flow he is great.

But for £60m, £220k a week we should be seeing a lot more going into his 3rd season. The fact he cant get in the squad over players up for sale because he is not match ready is damning. Surely you see that aswell.

Tanguy wouldn’t have been as effective as our midfielders yday, however he would be much better with teams that sit back than say skipp or maybe even dele

If I see it then I'm guessing.

No real fitness regime with Jose, chaos at the end of the poch reign and Covid. Lots of interruptions to his progress so I can understand why he has struggled with fitness and it's entirely possible that he isn't naturally fit either.

People are guessing that he is a trouble maker, that he is stealing a living because he has understandable fitness issues.

To my mind, when a team mate, colleague or family member struggles to settle or goes through a bad patch you help.

From what we hear they have him on a tailored fitness plan and are not actively looking to sell him.

Kudos to the club for looking after both person and asset.

Shame on us for simply wanting rid when none of us knows the full story.

Surely you see that as well?

I don't think it matters how fit you get Tanguy he just doesn't have the mentality Nuno requires. He doesn't even work hard enough to get on the ball to do what he's good at nevermind getting him to work off the ball to get it back.

I think he is so skilful that it hindered his development growing in other areas of the game.

We could carry him against so called lesser teams but I don't think Nuno will be prepared to indulge any player against the unity and togetherness of the group.
There were times under Jose were he was very combative especially mid season. I think the end of season under Mason really affected him mentally.
