I don't blame them at all for wanting to get maximum return for him, good luck to them, but football really has gone mad. What on Earth has this lad done to warrant a €70-80m asking price. That used to be established superstar price.

I swear they rejected €70m the other day ?

“There is already a principle of agreement between the parties. Vlahovic would move outright for 50 million euros plus ten easy-to-reach bonuses. Furthermore, Fiorentina would have 20% on the future resale, while the player would sign a contract worth 4.5 / 5 million per season.”
Sell on clause is high but that’s really not a terrible deal

I don't.

I can probably count on one hand the number of strikers that have 'survived' the pressure of fees that large so early into a career that is, let's be honest, unremarkable so far.

For context, Haaland went for less than £20m at a far more proven stage in his career.

You either have to buy established guys, which we can’t because they don’t want to play behind Kane. Or you take the risk and buy a 1 or 2 season player, but at 50, 60, 70 million, you need to know and how can you with lack of games.

I dont understand why we agree 70+20 for Martinez but dont get this guy? Am I missing something? What are we going to use that money on then?...

It probably never existed, it was likely pre planning for the Kane money, which looks increasingly less likely to be coming.

And if we spent 70m on him and he struggled would we regret it?

We can't afford to blow big money on players unfortunately. Ndombele, Soldado, so on and so on.

We keep making expensive mistakes. Our game has always been to get that special player just before they break.

The sensible option would be to get in a striker who can spend a season adjusting so that if Kane goes next year, he can step up.

If Kane stayed and we forked out 70m on Vlahovic, he'd likely play second fiddle and lose confidence. At 70m it's too risky.

At 30m or less, it may not be as much of a loss if they don't work out.

If Kane had left and we got 150-200m for him, then you can take more of a risk and make him the main man. But with Kane in the way, it's too risky to do at that price.

It'll be very interesting to see where we go from here.

We actually have no ambition as a club. Its just all mediocre now. Guess we got to get used to it

Being a conference league team will do that, unfortunately.

It's hard to attract the very best players, so we have to take a punt on young and up-and-coming ones.

Did you honestly think we were going to spend 60 million on another striker with Kane still at the club?

That's not lack of ambition. It's common sense.

If Kane does go, I reckon we'll come back in big for him but zero chance otherwise.

He's had one good season and people are expecting us to pay £60m + for him? Not a chance, that would be a terrible deal. Soldado had 3-4 good seasons in terms of goals before joining us, for half that price, and we all know the outcome. No thanks, move on.

Its called planning for the future. Kane aint staying more than one year. Clubs will have more money next year and will price us out. Supposedly a buyers market this year yet we cant even take advantage of it. There very well may be no available striker for us to sign in our range, its likely we can miss out on CL, so in the end we are just left fucked without a striker. Then we'll buy a B level striker.

It makes total sense to invest this year imo, regardless of Kane.

We spent 60m on Ndombele after a few good performances. And he's been a major disappointment and is now going to be a nightmare to shift whilst eating up resources.

There's no way we are in the spectrum of spending 70m on CFs off the back of one good season in Serie A (no europe).

At 40m it may be worth the risk but not 70m. No way.

We need to buy Scamacca now. i didn’t say anything before and prob jumping the gun now but losing vlahovic and not moving for Scamacca before fiorentina would be shambolic incompetence. I find it staggeringly stupid if we haven’t been negotiating for him.
