What's that got to do with the price of rice?

Guessing is one thing repeatedly posting "He's gone" and that other posters who weren't sure "were in denial" is something else altogether.

I may have been a tiny bit guilty of the he's already gone train of thought. I am glad to be wrong, and so wrong I was.

Keep seeing people saying EH is going to be cheap next Summer. I'd wager he most certainly won't be. I mean yeah he has a release clause making his transfer fee relatively low, but I'd wager a kidney that everything else involved will be extortionately high. When you have all the top spending clubs in the world interested and your agent is Raiola you can bet it's still going to be a bidding war. Only difference is all the money will be going to the player and the agent but the deal is still going to cost someone close to 200 mil imo.
Asking a general question here so I think it’s allowed but don’t answer if you think it’s an issue.
If one offers release clause and another offers higher does the club have to accept both or can they accept only the higher amount i.e can you still have a bidding war for a player with a clause?

Long term (guest) lurker and previous SC member but reinstated as a new member, former COYS member but got ditched for saying nothing. Know fuck all about football but have a love/hate relationship with Spurs. Glad Kane is staying but wouldn’t have been disappointed if he’d gone. The club is bigger than the players. COYS
PS. Bit drunk and gonna go back to lurking. Thanks to all for for the info and entertainment this summer

? alright Romario

The former - both bids have to be accepted. Although that said, it simply wouldn't happen, because if you meet the release amount, the club has to accept it, so it logically would never happen. Why commit to paying more for something when you don't need to?

Fair play to Kane, he really didn't have to come out with this statement today. But without it this week was going to be a circus and massively distracting for the team.

He has made a lot of mistakes this summer, but for me this is a big step in the right direction. He may have known the move wasn't going to happen, but there was always a chance things could change in the last days of the window.

He has chosen to draw a line under this whole saga, announce he is staying on his terms and given a great boost to his teammates. This benefits Spurs much more than camp Kane, and he deserves credit for it. Hopefully he will get a decent reception on Sunday.

ha I’m nowhere near as eloquent and knowledgable
Might I suggest you have a look in the Missing Members thread (the recent pages) - you might change your opinion of him?

Unless you are Romario / Krule. Then you might want to steer clear...

I'm at a loss to figure out what we're going to do with ourselves now over the next six/seven days. Even though there's debate around whether Adama would be a good signing or not, it's on a different level to the Kane sage. What are we going to get ourselves hot and bothered about over the next week?

(Just to clarify, I like the hot and botheredness.)

True, but still a feeling of 'Meh' for the rest of the window.

More clarification - not 'meh' about the signings, just they're not nail-biting like the Kane 'will-he, won't-he' stuff has been.
