I know this has probably been done to death in this or other threads, but the thought of potentially us being top and Arse bottom by the end of the day makes me giddy. Even if it only lasts a week!

What do we think of Wilshere? Shit! What do we think of shit? Wilshere! Looks like wheelchair got what he deserved in the end. C—t.

He's a typical arsenal player/fan. Massively arrogant for no apparent reason. No surprise to see his career never amounted to anything given his attitude.

Plus, out of the top 4 divisions in English football, only Arsenal and Wolves haven't scored a goal so far this season.

And Wolves have a chance to right that wrong today.

But, yeah, it's all a bit of fun, but it doesn't really mean all that much in Aug/Sept.

100% agree. Most of the Arsenal fans I know are pleading ignorance “I don’t work for the club” and “I don’t make these shit decisions”. Ok, but you were happy to gloat at Spurs fans when your stock was high… Now take a bit of that back please! #artetaforever

We should be careful what we wish for, clubs that get relegated rarely challenge again. If Ar$eanal go down, they could end up like Schalke, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern. Big clubs with CL & Europa league histories, who challenged at the top. Of those, only Frankfurt made it back to the top part of the league, and it took them 15 years. Following relegation Schalke lost 80% of the first team, the replacements are mostly free transfers and frankly rubbish.

In the UK, Newcastle, Villa, Blackburn and Leeds went down. All were challenging at the top in the years immediately prior to relegation, and none of them are going to be troubling the top 6 come the end of the season.

If Arsenal went down, given the current ownership there. I suspect it could be a long road back, maybe upwards of 10-15 years. They could lose most of their team, and be financially stricken for a long time.

Sure, we can laugh at their plight, but the league would be poorer for less derby games. We’re seeing that this season in Germany where Schalke are missing out on local derbies with Leverkusen, Bochum and Dortmund, which in turn means lost revenue for all clubs involved!

It'll be a couple of weeks as it's international break.

We'd still have the Chavs and maybe we'll actually start caring about WHAM as much as they care about us. We'd be fine.

They’re not exactly challenging now. I always thought I would prefer them suffering in mediocrity and the limbo that ensues rather than get relegated completely but just for kicks it would be great to see them go down. 3 games gone so none of this is really relevant right now.

Agree. As much as I take delight in how shit they are, I'd still rather have them in the league than not.

I suppose the thing for me is that we get 2 big, intense games in the form of the NLD whereas if they go down those would be replaced by 2 run of the mill fixtures against some arbitrary team who got promoted. From a pure entertainment perspective, I'd rather watch a match against Arsenal than a match against a WBA, Stoke, Watford, Norwich type team

No one is saying we want them out of the Prem forever. Just a decade or so and then they come back up and we royally spank them home and away every year. Then, when that gets boring, we can watch them get relegated again. We’ve got fuck loads of London’s derbies. Some of you need to have a word with yourselves.

Fair points but how entertaining would it be seeing a club like this going to the Championship?

They have 5 relatively high earners in the last year of their contract. That's potentially £70m+ of transfer fees being lost on free transfers.

They'd still be left with players on huge salaries, many likely not willing to leave their salaries can be matched.

Every team in the Championship would go all out for them.

It would be fucking epic.

I'd revel in their relegation. The amount of crap I got up until about Martin Jol from that lot. Sooner they're gone the better. They had a right to be arrogant under Wenger (especially those Vieira/Henry/Bergkamp days). But now they're mediocre at best.

Sod them.

It’s weird when people talk about the DNA of a club or the identity. You kind of think how can a stadium a group of 25 men and a fan base have a singular identity. But it does happen, it’s hard to quantify actually how. Quite hard to explain how in 10-15 years they’ve gone from an Elite winning club to an absolute sorry mess. I really wonder what part AFTV played in it, I’m sure there is some connection. Long may it continue ?

Absolutely mate. I believe everything goes round in cycles. Yin and Yang. There's a price you pay for your successes and this is theirs. I only hope ours is on a completely different trajectory and we're about to be rewarded for all our failures. I think we can all say we've paid our dues over the last few years.

What a wonderful dream. Them getting relegated, and then in the Championship, trying desperately to fire-sale all their highest but chronically underachieving earners out of the club whilst getting stuffed by teams like Peterborough or Swindon in front of 20,000 every week inside the Haemorrhoids Stadium.

It'd be glorious.

We're already seeing teams struggling to sell players because of the huge salaries they're on.

Seeing such a big club with such large expenditure trying to deal with the Championship and everything that goes with it would be truly fascinating.
