It might not be Contes choice of wing back as the one he really wants isn't available in Jan. We don't have infinite funds. Not too difficult to understand

Not difficult to understand sure but we’re in a place where he’s clearly not too happy and you have to ask could we have done more.

How do you know we didn’t try but who we want wasn’t available?!

It’s a lot harder in reality than it is on Football Manager! ?

No you’re right mate, the business we’ve done both in January and the last 5 years has been excellent and we couldn’t possibly have done any better in the Windows.

I think the past recruitment has been poor, but you raised the issue of the January window and as I explained previously you weren’t going to pull up trees in this window.

You can say this til you're blue in the face but some are so determined to see everything in the most negative way possible that they simply ignore it, and carry on with their tedious mantra. I guess we'll find out soon when Conte either quits and runs away, or stays for the summer window when the players he allegedly wants become available.

It is nearly like, as every manager in the league has said - it's pretty hard to do business in January.

Is there a RWB you know that was sold elsewhere or that was available that we didnt get?

Folks are angry that we got into this position in the first place, and it feels as if those same people's answer is to do the exact same thing all over again.

But you’re acting like we couldn’t possibly have done any more but I disagree, you can always do more. There were clear issues that we had in the team and they weren’t addressed. Clearly the manager isn’t happy with the window and why should he be and why should we be?

It’s really not my job but just because you asked Trippier would’ve improved us. As much as I wouldn’t want him to come back.

Traore was also available with the intention to play wing back and we couldn’t complete the deal.

It’s not just about wb though, there’s gaping wholes throughout the squad.

Weghorst could’ve been signed for 12m as a back up to Kane, massive improvement on nobody.

And that’s fine but we’ll have cost ourselves a place in the champions league because of it.

Again it’s not just about the rwb, do you really think we did the best we possibly could in January?

Call me cynical, but I suspect quite a few of them will raise their performance levels in the coming months with the threat of being sold in the summer is on the horizon. We seem to have a group of players that are too comfortable. I suspect they only raised their levels while Conte was evaluating them. Now they cant be jettisoned they have returned to type hence the results. The drop off in the last two weeks cant be a coincidence!
He already knew who will be sold. A few games of performance wouldn't save their career here. Bergwijn probably was gone in Jan if there was no taker for Dele/Lo Celso IMO. Not especially after he saved our game against Leicester. Which is why he still didn't make the starting XI or ahead of Lucas. Other than Emerson and Sanchez, the starting XI more or less the only ones will be kept. The rest are highly to be booted out for massive upgrades.

You have named 3 players which I don't think Conte really wanted so how would it help to buy them?

That outburst from Conte has been building for a while. He made some pointed comments around managers keep changing at the club but the players stay the same, some people are talking about top 4 but maybe we should be focussed on the relegation zone. The January window was also not to his expectation given his recent commentary on that. There is clearly quite some misalignment behind the scenes that needs to be ironed out asap and as he is such a proud and passionate man, he probably won't want to hang around too long if he cannot get some concrete assurances about the near future especially the approach and budget for the summer.

Ok so what RWB was available and for how much?

So do you pay £60m for your fifth choice RWB in January, when £30m buys you your number one choice in the summer?!

No one other than those directly involved know exactly what went on during the winter window negotiations, so it’s futile to speculate and get bent out of shape about.

If we screw up the summer business and Conte walks as a result, then that’s a different matter!

He literally wouldn't come here because he didn't want to play wing back.

Hes apparently an anti vaxxer so should we qualify for Europe he wouldn't have been able to play in many countries due to the restrictions that will surely still be in place.

Hopefully his press conference tomorrow is more measured and he calms the situation down.

I also hope the players take this warning and kick on against a struggling Leeds side.

This day next week he could be all smiles again after 2 wins hopefully ?

Confirmed he is taking the press conference tomorrow.

I imagine with the line "i have always said i am happy at Tottenham, i was questioning whether the club was happy with me after losing 4 out of the last 5 games".

Something along those lines.

Don't know if this has been posted, and I don't know if this is worrying or whether we just need the full pre season with him to get the players up to the required fitness level and tactical understanding.

People don't want positive ITK though. I tried to say last night that it was an emotional response, regardless of what Conte said about it not being. There is no chance that the response had absolutely nothing to do with last night's performance. Therefore there was some emotion invovled, he can't just switch them off. I tried to say this and tried to say he would be backed in the summer but I get a remark about needing X amount of Unicorn emojis to rate my post which I quite frankly found incredibly insulting and therefore deleted the post. Then several jump on the back of it and agree with said post. I'm tired of trying to tell you the plan and trying to remain positive. This place is toxic at times and people just sweep the positive ITK to the side to fit their own agenda. Well I'm done for now, I've been told a few things after last night but quite frankly, I can't be bothered with some of the responses it will inevitably get! Previous ITK has been lost due to some individuals going after what they post and I might not be the best out there, but I can assure you I get very solid info from within the club and pass it on with the best intentions. People need to be careful, because soon enough, there won't be any left on here.
The majority of folks on here greatly appreciate the info you, Trix, Herc, etc. provide. Please ignore the assholes as there will always be idiots that enjoy drama and watching the world burn!
