Also they've technically replaced Aubameyang and Lacazette with Jesus, so according to the stats last season they're actually no better off. And I vaguely remember Jesus getting a few goals in a single game too.first 11 they're + a striker and - a midfielder, so about the same there. in terms of squad they've not lost anyone of particular note but have brought in vieira with saliba back from his loans so slightly stronger there but then both those are young and unproven in this country, the american goalie is replacing leno which you'd have to assume is a downgrade. tbh whilst i keep an interest in what arsenal(and others) are doing, i honestly feel so confident in what we're doing right now that even if they were to bang out a couple of big names in the next few weeks it really wouldn't concern me at all. as it stands, i think things would have to go very wrong for us in order for them to overhaul us.
also, just on gabriel jesus. i do find it kind of interesting the rhetoric around him from the media. all i've seen is pretty much universal praise for what a great signing he is yet for the past two years the same media have been telling us that man city have been winning the league without a striker, i mean that's pretty damning for arsenal's new #9 isn't it? seems like a strong end to the season from him has basically made everyone forget that. i do actually think he's decent and will probably prove to be a good signing for them but the level of adulation he's gotten so far isn't really in line with what he's delivered on the pitch.
I'm convinced he'll bang in a couple to get the season up and running, but it'll no doubt fade and we'll all be laughing at those AFTV clowns by October
