I’ve been saying Conte should go, but it was not long ago that Arsenal fans were begging for Arteta to go. Things can change and managers need time to build success. But the question is do we believe in Conte’s vision? Is he the manager who’s here for the long run when he doesn’t believe in young players? What are we seeing now that we believe will be better next season?

arteta was hired for a long-term project; it wouldn’t have made sense to fire him for a wobble unless the decline was too much. But Conte? He says he’s here for the here and now; he’s shown with his handling of Spence that he has no interest in developing players for 1,2,3 years down the line.

the big mistake we made was firing Poch. I’m not sure hiring him will solve our problems but I think we should look to him for inspiration for who we should hire; a young-ish, progressive manager who develops players. We’re not rich enough to buy ready made players to win titles; we have to buy players who can develop into title winners.

thats just our reality. It means winning will always be a long shot but if we stick to that plan, ocassionally we’ll win something. Flip flopping between strategies or trying to be Chelsea without the same amount of money just reduces our chances further of success.

I brought the family over from Florida for the game and yes, you don't expect to win them all but for Jesus sake, put in an effort. 47 years a fan and when I lived in Ireland, I saw us play many many times. Today was one of the worst performances I have seen. And an amount is on Conte. And before youse scream at me over the injuries, our style of sideways and backwards nonsense, is on him.

We’ve not had one good game all season. I think we need to make a change now while champions league is still a possibility.
Poch would be the obvious choice, and probably willing and happy to come back. I think he’d work wonders with Bissouma..

The desire of the players seemed non existent today. Just like the last 7 to 10 games. We all say it every week. Its not until we are 2 down that any urgency is shown.

Oh well, back to the Glenlivet for me. I think Ive got some left over from last night

So you think we should be buying Villa's midfield, then?

We could buy the best midfielders in the world, but Conte will only ever play two at a time, even when it isn't working. He's a stubborn bloke, out of his depth.
Sorry but I couldn't disagree with this post anymore than I do. Conte is not out of his depth.

We’re too reliant on individual brilliance to score goals. Conte’s strategy makes injuries bigger.

Ok don't usually comment but some of the replied are spot on. Conte has been found out, best of breed on the pitch needs money and then he will win but we don't have that deep pockets. Rather loose playing nice football than loose and look crap. Personally, Conte needs to go, we won't ever reach his high levels

I know you didn't say that Levy is holding us back, but it sounds like you are.
Of course as far as on the pitch is concerned he always has. I think it was fair to afford him the time to get the infrastructure in place because as he kept saying 'the stadium will be a game changer'. Well here we are and as Conte said last week, we are only interested in young players with potential on accessible wages.

So the question is how much 'game changing' has actually gone on?

I know we need investment but we also need a manager who inspires players to fully commit to winning games. I don't understand a manager such as a Conte inducing the team to play such boring, tired, loss inducing football.

This looks like the end of an era. Conte will leave at the end of the season, of course. And so will Harry and Sonny. Will be just like 2014 again, with Poch and a new crop of young players next season. High hopes again, but with ENIC, not enough investment to win anything, just enough to keep people interested and ensure ticket sales.

Good, thanks for the memories but the old guard need to go. Build the team around Bentancur, Kulusevski, Romero and Richarlison.

The whole thing stinks of ENIC and those parasites who own the club. Thing is, we’re stuck with them. They won’t sell (at a price anyone will buy) and they won’t invest required amount. Such a pointless football club.
Sadly I've come to realise the same, after supporting ENIC and Levy for years; and the only solution is to stop going, stop watching, and stop buying. Until these people leave, nothing will ever - and I do mean ever - change.

Surely Levy can't be happy watching this dross. We start every game like we have just got out of bed and made to play, no desire no urgency. This is down to management, Villa have not got a better team than us.
Your deluded if you think that lineup we put out is that much better than Villa.

Davies, Lengelet, Doherty, Hojberg and Gil are absolute shite and wouldnt get in Villa's team.

Mate. He is stubborn and his football is shite. He’s totally out of his depth because he is no idea how to turn it around apart from asking for more money for players.

This comment just screams for a Poch return and a painful re-build!
Not sure my heart can take it tbh

Atmosphere was particularly toxic today. Fans definitely turning on Levy and ENIC. Booing Royal onto the pitch was pretty shameful though.
Think as others said, the boos were probably aimed at Conte overlooking Spense (a far more attack minded and arguably better player than royal) when 0-2 down

Will that happen with Poch back as many are screaming for ? ... or another former Chelsea manager in Tuchel...

At least we know Conte is trying to challenge the board to be more aggressive every window.

Couldn't agree more. It was easy for Levy and Co to do what they do best whilst they spent the early years sorting out the utter shambles the club was in when they took over. But their own success in doing that put them in a place where they had/have to put their money where their mouths are - and surprise surprise, they are not prepared to.
