It’s also why conte keeps talking about first building a ‘foundation’I don't know why we are focusing on the forward line? Perhaps because it's where we are strongest but they are far superior defensively Gabriel and Saliba are a very good partnership, and Ramsdale isn't throwing the ball into his own net every other game. Without a solid back line everything in front will be more of a struggle. If you have confidence in those behind you, you are more likely to take risks and play more adventurously, that's just how life is. If you are financially secure you are more likely to buy a fancy sports car, and take nice holidays to far off exotic climes than if you aren't.
I can’t quite understand what people expect.
woth conte, we have an actual proven winner of a manager, yet the club aren’t providing him with the players he needs that he knows he would win with.
our squad is awful, shockingly bad for a top 4 team.
inwas pissed about the Villa game, it was pre Kulu and Bents, and goes to show that those two missing, we are back to square one.
our defence literally gifts the opposition goals, no team can expect to win with a defence like we have, no foundation, no security, no trust, and no ability to built momentum.
conte cannot magic capability into players, no manager can - all bar one defender shouldn’t really be in the squad ??
manager needs proper backing, otherwise it’s the exact same cycle
WINNNNNNNNNAHHH!I just want to know where all this "Conte hasn't been backed" energy was in August, when most people thought we'd had a good transfer window

On current form, we'll struggle to get more than 6 pointsPalace, Arsenal, City, Fulham, City - how many points will we get from next 5? Where we will be at the table at that point?
The exact same could be said for us.Every Arsenal fan I've spoken to(and to be fair it's not many) have basically said any long term injuries to their midfield 2 and they are fucked as things stand. So whilst they are coping right now it's because they've kept all their key players fit and playing. They don't have great depth either but they have been luckier thus far with injuries and it's a big reason they are where they are, amongst other factors of course.
It's the 3rd of January. How would any signings this window have helped us take more than a point of Brentford and Villa, after which all the complaints have intensified? Surely the time to complain about Conte not being backed in THIS window is after it shuts? We did. Now we need another, and another and more after that. Backing a manager isn't one window. It's why Arsenal are going for Mudryk and Felix this window. Thats backing a manager.
No matter what you think of Conte, do you really expect him to succeed where so many other managers have failed? So this is all out of Contes hands then? He might as well stay at home until he gets those extra players?

Besides, the majority of the moaning I've seen, both on here and elsewhere, is about the business we didn't do in the summer.
A lot of people said it was a good start.I just want to know where all this "Conte hasn't been backed" energy was in August, when most people thought we'd had a good transfer window
No, but I kind of expected him to succeed with a whole bunch of new players that the other managers didn't have tbh. You might have more of a point if the defence was the only problem area in the team, but none of the defence, midfield and attack look like they've even met each other most of the time, never mind trained together. No matter what you think of Conte, do you really expect him to succeed where so many other managers have failed?
Apart from Romero and Lenglet (who the jury is still out on, not to mention he's not even our player), the defence is still the same one that let Poch down.
I don't think any manager could get that lot performing to high levels.
Then you're really not grasping what been said.I just want to know where all this "Conte hasn't been backed" energy was in August, when most people thought we'd had a good transfer window
You're not the only one.I’m at the point where I can’t even be arsed to get wound up by it.
It seems pretty obvious Conte won’t be sufficiently backed to really kick on, and Enic don’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon...they’re happy to let their cash cow just keep getting fatter.
I just feel defeated, and a bit stupid really...as a few months ago I really felt the penny had dropped for Levy and with a world class manager in his prime he’d finally bankroll a proper rebuild, not the piecemeal bollocks it seems likely we’ll get.
