The CL run papered over the cracks. We were on a big decline that season. Poch also had one of the strongest spurs team I’ve ever witnessed and still didn’t win anything. I don’t know why we are so happy to move backwards. Conte has had a retched year and I don’t think many of us are taking that into consideration. I would love to see him come back after he’s recovered feeling fresh, and ready to take us forward.
This is an outrageously twisted take which ignores literally all context behind why Poch’s reign ended the way it did.

That's one view. Another is that he created and coached that team, improved numerous players, had tactically flexibility and got the best out of them.

He also challenged for the title twice, which I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. We were also unbeaten at home for an entire season, again astonishing when you compare that to our entire history.

The guy changed us from a club that would turn it on occasionally and an 'on their day' team to a seriously strong side, not perfect but like a Tottenham I'd never seen before and my first match was 1983.

I totally agree the decline was big; the fall away was awful and so stark it was shocking.

Conte is clearly moving on which is a shame but hardly unexpected. The guy never stays for long and that's at elite clubs, let alone one like ours that re-build more than a jenga set. If it's Poch that comes in, I wouldn't let the last few months cloud my judgment of him and I would really, really hope that it works out

I, like a lot of people am fed up of the football, I feel sorry for Conte I really do for varying reasons. However and I know this lets Levy off the hook and I know it probably won't work out but I want Poch back now. I was on the fence to whether we should or shouldn't before we employed Conte and we were linked with him and again recently but it may be a bit knee jerk due to the Leicester and Milan results but I don't care come home Poch.

So would I but I think it's very unlikely now. Also the players have gave up again on the manager. Yet the same players will still be here next season because Levy won't sell at a reasonable price.

I think every conceivable footballing reason should mean we move on now. Both for the immediate short term priorities of this season and beyond.

The only reason I can imagine it hasn’t been yet is 1) interrupting prep for most immediate upcoming game 2) PR concerns around fan backlash, how sacking an ill man will look etc

I doubt they will sack him while ill. They're probably going to go a mutual route and his health will be the reason. Doctors advice and all that.

Good to see everyone in good spirits and looking forward to this weekend's footy
Well I am. New manager(ish) in charge...great new midfield pairing...mebbe get a further look at tricky Jan arrivals.

The absolutely key thing is intensity...if we have it, we win (y)

I'm still on the Conte bandwagon but if he goes, I'll remember his reign fondly and wish him all the best. A wonderful manager and character, we probably just aren't the right fit right now. I certainly hold him in much higher regard than Santini, Ramos, Nuno, AVB, Jose etc.

I'm like a lovesick teenager but I'd take Poch back in a heartbeat. Heart ruling head a bit I know but, f**k it, if I didn't let my heart rule my head, I'd be supporting Man City rather than our lot.

I saw a thing yesterday that showed this season we have the same amount of points after the same amount of games as Jose. 10 (?) new players, 3 given away on frees, £200m (?) spent. Same horrible football.

I have the utmost respect and admiration for Conte. His work ethic and passion cannot be questioned, and I have no doubt he will go on to be successful in wherever he goes. He was just never the right fit for Spurs.

I'd be fine with letting the contract run down and shaking hands in an amicable end. I'd also be fine with paying him the remainder to rest up until the summer and getting a new guy in now.

So who IS a good fit for Spurs manager - if you want to win trophies (as opposed to just watching an attacking brand of football)?

Just do it now use the illness as a face saver for both sides get poch in and get some fresh energy to the end of the season rather than continuing with something stale that everyone knows has a short shelf life.
No rush with Paraticis future up in the air.

Let's get the DOF sorted and let Stellini and Mase do their thing.

If they go Mason would likely be the caretaker anyway so before making long-term decisions let's get the structure sorted.
