Even if Kane is only playing for himself (and I’m sure he is not) what he brings to the table is more than good enough
Wrong attitude. If you’re playing for yourself you are not playing for the team. If one can get away with that others will follow and soon you have just a group of individuals not a team.

So if he gets the players he wants he will be successful? 19/20 he spent 191M Euros at Inter. The following year it was 126M and they won the league. Two summer and two January windows.

The eight seasons prior to Conte arriving they finished; 4, 4, 7, 4, 8, 5, 9, 6. So they were not a team who were challenging for the tile in the years leading up to Conte. He got them to 2nd and then the title spending 317M in 4 transfer windows. I don't think that us spending around £150M per season is unreasonable now. So while he may need (300) hundreds of millions I don't see it being out of our budget.

What we really need to do - whoever the manager is - is buy the players he actually wants. Conte didn't ask for Spence or Lenglet or Danjuma.
He’s managed in incredibly favourable circumstances his entire career. Even at Inter, his spending ran the club into near oblivion.

I’m sure if Conte was given a blank cheque at this club, he’d have been way more successful but he was backed and backed considerably more than any of his predecessors and he has failed spectacularly.

Yes, the club failed him but then it was always going to be difficult to please him with the level of spending he requires to bring success. All his time at Spurs has done is proven he is nowhere close to the same level as the the truly elite managers.

Your 1st sentence talked about no trophies and the next one about mediocrity.

That's how I took it from your message.
Doesn’t mean I wasn’t happy with the product I was watching. The football was fantastic but it was always annoying the way we treated the cups.

Poch’s first season we got knocked out of the FA cup, Europa League and lost the League cup final all in a fortnight - there were disappointing times as well

It's a shame that Conte doesn't have another press conference soon. I'd love to hear his answer if he was asked if his comments were directed at the club, or just the players.

Considering most fans believe the squad players aren't up to snuff, do you really think Conte would trust them? It's hardly full of players we can bring in to compete at the level we aim for. They couldn't beat a rotated Sheffield United.
Who do you think Conte is referring to when calling players selfish and as Trix said dialling it in?

Exactly. Nathan made here really great points

Might well be the case but I don’t see it being any different if Mason is in charge. Maybe for the first few games but i really don’t see us getting top 4 if Levy expects Mason to see out the season. Not that Conte necessarily will ether. But if it’s a choice between the two neither is an attractive option.

Didn't we have a European quarter final on a Thursday night, then the league cup final a few days later? Our squad just wasn't ready for it back then ☹️

As you may remember, I was in favour of hiring Jose. I analysed it too much, and I fell for the idea that a manager with such a history of winning trophies would be beneficial to us and help us get some cups.

But it just just hasn't worked for us with Jose or Conte. It's time to go back to what actually works for us.
Jose appointment made sense at the time. The narrative then was sqaud burnt-out and Poch also seemed more petulant as results worsened. Getting a worldclass coach with the aim of a quick fix seemed prudent.

Don’t need a press conference for that, besides he’s probably been reigned in again since then after the emotion of the moment. He was obviously talking about both, if just the players he didn’t need to talk about owners and 20 years etc He’s implying when you have owners without the drive and focus to win then the players who are comfortable with that challenge or rather lack thereof will follow, players that don’t thrive on the pressure, face it we’re brimming full with a squad full of losers and 20 years backs up what he’s saying…

But thats not really fair is it? You cant ask any defence to defend for absolutely massive chunks of a game and when they inevitably concede turn round and say 'you didn't do your job properly!'
Every goal is a defensive error or it wouldn't happen. You can always say IF we done this or IF we'd done that.
You need to minimise the chances of the opposition scoring. Man City do this by keeping the ball. If the opposition haven't got the ball, they can't score.
Conte seems to think having 11 players camped in our half will stop them from scoring and we can hit them on the break. It doesnt work. That's not down to a shit defence. Its down to letting the other team batter that defence until it inevitably crumbles.
If he stays until the end of the season I'll be gutted.
100%. As a defender still trotting about in a crap old mans league, this 'style' would be an absolute nightmare to play in. Absorbing pressure for huge chunks of matches sounds like hell to me. No wonder the players are fed up. I would be too. There is nothing more enjoyable than playing good passing, attacking, football on a decent deck. It just feels good...

Not saying the players and Levy aren't culpable (they obviously are). As A&C and many others have said, it's a toxic cocktail of shitness throughout the club and has to change - the shitty tactics and Conte's ****y childish rants are an easy fix.

Well, while City hasn't won on Europe, Pep isn't eurojoke like Conte
Pep failing to win the CL with either Bayern or City in my opinion rules him out of the elite status. Winning with Barca when you have prime Messi just doesn’t cut it.

The Elites are Klopp/Tuchel/Ancellotti/Zidane - Spalletti possibly enters the picture if Napoli lift it this year also.

If true it’s the least surprising thing I’ve ready in the last 24 plus hours

It might well be true, but why should morale be high if they are performing as they are each week. Being happy to be mediocre is a big issue with our club. Why should the manager be roasting marshmallows and singing kumbaya with them when they aren’t playing anywhere near their ability. Yes the tactics aren’t great but surely the players should have a little pride. After what I saw in both cup games, as much as the tactics were dull the players could and should still have done so so much better.

I don’t want Conte to stay and I didn’t want him in the first place but he’s right to be pissed off and the players should be as well but they should be angry at themselves for playing like ass.

Someone should send our elite coach highlights of PSG's 2-0 defeat at home tonight.
Djed Spence v Mbappe and Messi.

If the current players are so shit, maybe Spence and Danjuma could have had a few minutes.

Elite coach 🤣

I´ve been musing over the expression that "the manager has lost the dressing room"; sometimes, especially this time, I think it might be the other way around. That the dressing room has lost the manager.
