He was the first back at everton preseason training. I get the impression he has the bit between his teeth again and maybe feels he has a point to prove.

He doesn't need to come here on loan.

The club should offer him any support it can, but ultimate duty of care lies with Everton.

They're his club now, and if he feels ready to get back to his best and prove a point, that's a great place to do it, with great fans who will get behind him and show him the love he deserves.

He'll still always be one of us.

Predictably "DELE WAS MOLESTED AT SIX" is the main story on The Sun's shitty website. Not the football or sport sections, the entire site. At least he's told it on his terms but they're going milk it for all it's worth and pull individual comments out of it just like he said they would.

I'm retired now but I have a background in counselling and therapy spanning 40+ years, later teaching it at tertiary level. Couple of points spring to mind:

When Dele changed the name on the back of his shirt, every person I spoke to in my profession (who follow football) talked of the warning bells this signified.

Gary Neville is an extremely skilled interviewer, he really is, and one could use this interview in a training setting. Really impressed with distance, open stance, the non-verbal reinforcers, the clarifying questions and the summarising. He was very skilful. That was fascinating viewing. Makes you really want to give Dele a huge cuddle.

Just watched the Deli overlap episode and most cannot imagine what he went through as a kid. The impact this has on an individual cannot be shaken off, you develop coping mechanisms which tend to work at times, however, the most important thing is you need support and to recognise that you need it.

I hope Deli’s interview helps those who have gone through similar traumas.

Dunno if I’ll be able to get though it - one of my favourite players who gave me so much. Love him so much.

I just want him to be okay and I think we as a club have a responsibility to help ensure that happens. He gave us enough.

And I hope this is a wake up call to those who continually attribute mentality or laziness to players. You have absolutely no idea who they are.

Everton is his employer, but if any contract cancellations happen Spurs should step in and look after him. He will always be one of us.

Trying to distract from their Huw Edwards fuck up. Wouldn't surprise me if that's why he had to speak up now as they wanted their latest distraction story told ASAP. Absolute vile subhuman scum.

Couple of hours later, I’m still choked up and can’t focus on work. My mind is replaying all of those joking ffs Dele posts etc, it’s thinking about the support he obviously got from Sonny and Eric and Harry, and thinking about when those joyous handslap celebrations stopped and how the seeming bromance with Eric and him faded, and all of these other unmentioned moments here. The burden he’s carried reminds me in a lot of ways of Gazza and I find myself really hoping he’s got his own Mabbsy.

Incredibly difficult to watch and I’m not afraid to admit I cried watching it.

What really struck a cord with with me is how articulate and controlled he was through the whole interview and how much ownership he gave to the traumatic situations he faced. Those six weeks at rehab could change his life forever.

I really hope we see a different Dele next season, now he seems to have found some solace in his life to move forward with.

Very brave young man.

Haven't watched it yet , will do tonight when I can give it my full attention but just wanted to say I love Dele.

So many great memories and it breaks my heart to see him struggling. Hopefully football can come together and wrap it's arms around him to get him back to his best

Compare it to the way we allowed Amazon to present him with those few sound bites like cooking a tin of beans, and the whats your favourite candy, where they infantalised him. We just watched the same man, and yet a totally different one.

Watched this first thing this morning. I think he did the best thing, the interview was exactly what he needed. And I think choosing Gary Neville was a great decision too. Dele will always be one of us, even more so after hearing his past. A lot makes sense now, growing up in such difficult circumstances.

I really hope he gets that hunger back for the game as he was such a good player 4-5 years ago. I remember being fearful that Real Madrid would take him off us and that £100m was too small a fee. He can do it, I think getting things out in the open and facing them head on will put him in a better place, psychologically.

And who knows, perhaps one day the reunion may happen and the stadium can belt out "we've got Alli, Dele Alli!".
