We scored 70 league goals last season:

How is this unreasonable:

Richarlison: 12
Maddison: 12
Son: 10
Kulusevski: 8
Solomon: 8
Lo Celso 7
New Forward: 6
Bentancur/Sarr/Bissouma: 5
FBs: 4
CBs: 3

Total: 75

I don't see how you can say surely no one can be upset. I mean we're talking a player who was our main goalscorer and playmaker and he's being replaced by nobody to be clear, Richarlison was in the team last year. So Yes Richarlison may well get a bigger role and he may well perform better in the new set up as might Son but to say a player who was already here is the replacement, I mean my word how low is our bar? What's basically being said with that is that the club does not believe in strength in depth? The level of importance on the bench in this day and age is huge with the amount of subs. I mean in 1999 United had Yorke, Cole, Sheringham, Solskjaer but in 2023 Spurs fans should be resigned to strength in depth being nothing more than a replacement in waiting, a replacement that has shown little but I will give credit and say his Brazil performances do give a glimmer of hope but to say surely no one can be upset.

Then on top of that, you say what exactly we should be doing is, using the Kane money to sort our weakest position, what about sorting it out by investing in the club without selling your best player. What about if he is hell bent on leaving, investing in the club and then using the Kane money to provide the manager with something up top to bolster his options.

If you can't understand how people may be upset then your standards are low and I think you, I and everybody else deserve better.

I really do hope that the players want to prove that they were not side attractions, I really hope that no europe gives us the best chance, that Richarlison turns into Brazilian Ronaldo and Ange overcomes all the odds but let's be clear that how the club operates is one of the odds and they'll be succeeding despite them, not due to them.
Does anyone seriously think we wouldn't buy a forward? Just because we'd (hopefully) commit big money on a couple of CBs doesn't mean we wouldn't or shouldn't buy a forward player.

Levy will be forced to buy some kind of forward player or else he'll get crucified by the fans and the press. But given Ange's style I can see the logic to spending, say, 40-60m on an upcoming young versatile forward who can play multiple roles (including striker) rather than spending like 70-80m on a straight number 9 when we have Rich who, for all his failings, does suit our new manager.

I don't see the point of comparing Kane and Richarlison, people seem to be concerned that we're replacing Kane with Richarlison but who the hell is as good as Harry Kane for a start and how the hell would we bring them here anyway?
He's irreplaceable at the same standard so we rebuild the team and select the best option for our future.

Exactly this. Our biggest problem is we are too reliant on Kane, he is our only method of attack. Since Eriksen has gone he's done everything and it's boring to watch and easy to stop, as we have found out this year.

Yes keeping Kane in this new system with Maddison playing number 10 would be ideal but he fancies a new challenge.

Accept it, move on.

We (eventually) got better when Berbatov, Modric and Bale left.

This phase is over. Kane has been so loyal and is the last man standing but the era is gone.

Criminally we won nothing. That's the sad bit. 😔

It’s unreasonable to assume that all them players are either going to better there best season or equal it. For example, we saw son was way off form.

Why shouldn’t the fans demand a proper player to replace Kane as well as the 2 CBs? We as fans should be wanting that. It’s not being entitled or unreasonable or FM Dream team. We are a rich club, the stadium pays for itself, we will be getting £80/90m for Kane, probably another £40m after other sales. We have enough to buy someone like vlahovic along with the 2 CBs.

Us fans need to raise our standards. We pay a fortune to watch this team.

With the amount we have created in our limited pre season I can easily see many players having their best scoring seasons.

Yeah, if we were replacing Kane with Richarlison and expecting him to do what Kane did for us last season (or the 4 seasons before that) we'd be totally fucked.

But context is absolutely massive here and we're doing a total 180 as a team. We're no longer looking for a superhero playmaker/goalscorer hybrid that is the centerpiece of our entire attack. We're looking for a fast, physical fucker that can pin back the opposition defensive line, press like a mad-man and get on the end of things.

sort of proves the point then that some are saying. 30 shots, how many did these players convert?
First pre season game against a team ahead of us (preparation wise)
And created all those chances.
Without match sharpness.

Goals will definitely come with the better football.

The biggest worry is will we score more than we concede...

If he is to go then I'm more than happy with us going with Richy, signing a decent prospect to back him up (and put Son down the middle instead if needs be), and spending the rest of the money wide/CBs. I don't see the point at all in trying to buy someone to play ahead of Richarlison because he had a tough first season, injured, not even playing in the role he'll be playing this year, which is what he's actually good at.

If it doesn't work out then next summer we'll have to look to replace him. It's not realistic to think or expect that we're going to build the squad that we need in one window. Nobody in football would expect that to be possible.
