I'd be happy enough with either Gnonto or Johnston to be honest.
Not the worst options but a big step down in terms of potential.
I guess Fati is a similar level alternative we could go for.

Damn them for tieing down one of the finest young talents in England to a new contract. Can't be West Ham interested in Eze, apparently they've tied up lingaard on a 4 month deal....
I think theres an argument Fati is actually at a higher level. He was lauded as a generational talent but has had injuries. Doku has had more injuries and significantly, repeated hamstring injuries. Not the worst options but a big step down in terms of potential.

I agree with you on Fati - yes he is a risk but probably not much more of a risk than Doku is plus as you say, his potential is considerably higher in my opinion (and I rate Doku)I think theres an argument Fati is actually at a higher level. Eze is only thought more highly of because he is more of a known commodity.
If Eze was at Rennes, would we want him as much?

That's your opinion and that's fine, from the little info we are receiving it appears that the club and Ange feel that he would be very good for us. I've no idea if this transfer will happen but as long as Ange believes he is a fit then that's good enough for me.Fati's injuries have been far more severe and serious than Doku's.
Also worth noting that Fati isn't actually a very good profile fit for an Ange winger.
His volume of take ons and carries is low and his dribbling success rate isn't good either. He isn't a two way dribbler and he isn't a touchline winger like Doku. He wants to come in to more central areas to combine and play.
Fati would be a terrible waste of money both in terms of injuries but just as importantly because of a profile mismatch for the system.
I think Barcas willingness to sell is less about his ability or performance and more about how they raise funds to allow them to bring in the likes of Cancelo or FelixI agree with you on Fati - yes he is a risk but probably not much more of a risk than Doku is plus as you say, his potential is considerably higher in my opinion (and I rate Doku)
Will Levy be willing to pay £75 million and break our transfer record, not only to acquire a new defender and forward but also to address the removal of players who are no longer required? Depends how desperate he gets I guess but I can’t see him moving for eze at that price right now could change tho .

At that price and with the Achilles injury he had. I don't even think he's in a position we need as a priority. Will Levy be willing to pay £75 million and break our transfer record, not only to acquire a new defender and forward but also to address the removal of players who are no longer required? Nobody doubts Doku’s talent but he has some major injury concerns. I’m honestly surprised City are even considering him. Personally I don’t see us getting ether Eze or Doku but in terms of profile Doku is the better fit for what we need right now. I don’t see ether happening tho.Reports coming out that we’re keen on Doku instead of Eze.
Lower price and higher ceiling IMO, this is the one player I think will take us up a gear. But City are front runners.
Looks like we have other options that are better, Eze isn’t worth £70 million.
Not a bad shout tbf. Could cover LW too so they have him and Grealish for the left and Bernardo and Foden for the rightMy immediate thought was City for Eze following KDB's injury.
I wonder if City now go for him if Paqueta really does fall through as is looking likely.
