The match report on the BBC is embarrassing too.

This is definitely true. I couldn't believe this line by Phil McNulty: "This was a bad day for Liverpool, through no fault of their own - and a dreadful one for the PGMOL."
This looks like a straight cut-and-paste job from the Liverpool FC briefing. They are clearly intending that anyone who didn't actually watch the game buys into the fantasy that all the ref's decisions were biased and inept. Within 2 weeks, this will have become the accepted narrative.

You can also bet your bottom Dollar that this version will dominate the airwaves in the days before the match at Anfield, if only to remind the match officials that they have a debt to repay...

It's definitely got racists vibes....If he had been called Chuncheon Messi, then that would be the equivalent of Romford Pele, but using a native food to describe him is racist in my book.
Agree. Of course it’s got racist undertones

if he was from India, Japan, America or China you wouldn’t call him the Curry/Ramen/Big Mac/Noodles Messi would you?

Like i said earlier, this sort of name when comparing to the greats of football - you would get a Madras Messi for an Indian player or Paella Pirlo for a Spanish one.

Listen Koreans might take offence which is all that really matters but i'm not sure that poster for all his sins (being a Gooner the main one) is being racist, it is a part of the social media football discourse.

Shall we move on?

I wonder if Luton are looking forward to playing us following their historic first win

Arsenal Mania
  • Their humbling will just come a week later than expected. I don't think Liverpool will be as generous as we were. Their reality check should begin this weekend
  • If I was a Sp**s fan, after seeing what Saka did to Odogie in the first half of the NLD, I'd be worried seeing him lineup against Salah this weekend. :shivering:
  • For sure. And Salah actually gets calls unlike poor Saka so if he defends the same way as the first half against us, that's a sending off.
  • If things don't shape up I think it will be them laughing at us.
  • They are actually playing very well and are topping a lot of the attacking numbers.
I think they start having probs if they start missing one or two of their starting 11 though
  • we know they're delusional. The spent a solid 3 months dreading us winning the league and twerking for an oil chimera to stop us
  • Going forward, it'll be much more difficult for them to court better calibre of players as there are 5 clubs that are bigger than them now (as opposed to only 3 when we last won the title).
And they'll not always be lucky to grab a Madisson (who was criminally overlooked by both United & Chelsea) or a player from a different league who hit the ground running (Son).
  • Good performance from a lot of their players again, wish they didn't still have Kimchi Messi as he seems to be back to his best.
  • They’re not fooling me and while the rest of you gimps get on your knees like chief guzzler himself @GDeep™ I’ll wait patiently.
  • Good for Sp**s to keep going in this match, and the luck came in the end as a result of pushing on.
Sp**s should be in competition for a top four spot this season, provided they stay fit
  • They should be pushing for it. Played United, us and Liverpool picking up 7 out of 9 points. Add in no European football there is a pressure to deliver on their shoulders now. And that's when Sp**s, Sp**s.
  • They'd made it a tough slog beating a 9-man liverpool.
They're deluding themselves if they think this would've been the result had it been 22 players on the pitch
  • Disgusting win, their luck should run out soon
  • Sp**s will be found out soon. I don't mind them beating pool.
  • We are saying the same things about Sp**s, that they were saying about us last year. Its just bitterness people, cut it out.
Face facts, Sp**s are improved this season, and they stand a good chance of finishing top 4 if they continue to play their game, push hard and stay fit. There's nothing to find out, this is them and their level, being able to compete and win games they couldnt before.
What you can also see, is that there are limitations to their game which can be exploited. They dont have enough in their overall game, to grind out consistent points to win the league, particularly defensive organisation. They wont win the league, not with City, Arsenal and Liverpool competing in the league as well.
  • I was actually impressed by Sp**s until today. I always said that they are good as long as they have their starting 11, but I was a bit thrown off by how exasperated Ange looked with Liverpool packing out the middle and not having an answer for it. With a 2 man advantage and tons of minutes.
Had Arteta done that I'd be writing dissertations, but I think he and his small band of coaches are a bit too astute to be stumped in that scenario for that long.
  • Having guys like Solomon and Johnson as some your key players, that will put a cap on the level their team can reach. Maybe top 4 or top 5. Nothing more.
I think their fan base (except the deluded ones) will accept that in perpetuity as long as they play good football
  • I will never understand the hold they have on PGMOL. With Fergie and United, I understood it as disgusting as it is, particularly with 90% of them being Mancunian but to give preferential treatment to this nothing meme club is just mind boggling
  • There is something to find out as they have a very thin squad that has been healthier than many others. They were eliminated from the league cup before the big teams even entered. They have 3 impactful players who are carrying them and just one missing probably sees them totally collapse. They are very fortunate they have no European football to stretch them or they may already be in deep trouble. This is shades of how you overestimated 7 Hag last season and coming into this season and he's let you down. Ange will too

  • Yeah could be. The media are complicit as well pushing this loveable loser narrative about them and acting like Son is this nice guy when he breaks people's legs and elbows people in the side of the head or saying nothing when Kane would do that dirty undercut move on 50/50s in the air.
  • Don’t see any comparison between Sp**s and us from last season, they’ve got results but don’t look at all convincing doing it. Made it look difficult against 9 men, at times pool were cutting through them. We handed them a draw last week, looked crap against Sheffield United and could have easy lost to United.
They’re one injury to Maddison or Son away from disaster - if either is out for an extended period their season is done.
  • They are so giddy at the moment. Will be hilarious when the inevitable comedown hits

  • This is how Trump became president tbf
  • Has any other of the top teams played all three promoted teams yet this season, don't think we have played any yet?
Can wait for the inevitable Sp**s drop off this season, gonna hit so good...no team builds hope and crushes it better than this lot 🤤
  • I thought Sp**s may have had something but after Liverpool it seems to be mostly new manager bounce.
I think Richarlison on the left and Son through the middle prints money in the short term though, a bit hilarious it took Postecoglou that long to figure it out.
Son is getting on a bit but still has his deadly finishing and Richarlison was mostly on the left for Watford and Everton, he's at home there and you have to ignore his WC exploits.
Ironic that they keep saying ‘they’re deluding themselves” 🤣 also “disgusting win” was a good one. Also “they’ve got good results but don’t look at all convincing doing it” na the 70% possession and 30
Shots a game and beautiful attacking football, scoring 2+ goals a game, 5 past Burnley etc etc not convincing at all are we.

So so bitter love it.

Without derailing, Im strongly going to disagree and call out ignorance. My brother inlaw is Indian, and he has been called a dish which is popular in his culture ( by yobs) , and believe me, he finds great offence in being called that. The fact you cannot still see that and you still persist in saying Madras Messi, is ignorant has hell.

Im just gonna leave it here, someone called Son "DVD", that WAS racist, but if we add Messi to that it's acceptable? Its exactly as calling him Kimchi, adding Messi to it doesnt make it any less ignorant.

The title of this thread needs to be changed to the "who's gonna find Spurs out this week" thread...

I think we should move on - calling Son DVD is completely different and i think you know that.

like i said i don't go around calling players names by their national dish but it is a part of how captions are put together on football social media and they aren't all run by white national front blokes.

I saw Amrabat referred to as the couscous Vin Diesel on a page run by a North African lad the other day. Not that it matters.

anyway lets move on.

Still think Allison should have seen a bright, yellow card thrust into his face for delay of game for batting the ball into the net after Matip's delicious finish. That would have been a great pic.
He would have been sent off too if that had happened as he had been booked for timewasting earlier. I wonder who would have gone in goal for the last minute of play?

Not all Spurs related, but this is whats happening currently.

Quote from: CHOPPER on Yesterday at 08:03:31 pm
All that dickhead does is fuel the negativity with this faux ‘Im a boss fan by calling conspiracy’
It’s GOT evertonian behaviour cry arsing written all over it.

Adversity is what defines this club and this city, to hell with this ar-ay it’s not fair titty lip whinging.

It might be but we've won 1 league title in 33 years. Premier League corruption (that started with Alex Ferguson) is a part of that. We should be on 4 or 5, even allowing for our own failings in that time.
It's adversity stemming from corruption, incompetence or whatever you want to call it, that's costing us titles in this shithole of a league.

Tell you what, sounds like we wanna rematch

Need to demand a replay, or at least restart the game from 1-0 to us.
That's the only acceptable resolution.

Tone was spot on. A bit softer than what we all want to say but we weren’t going to get anywhere just shouting about it.
Club have clearly spoken to lawyers and seemingly seems to be avenues to pursue this further.
Looks like we’re going toe to toe.

Bring it on

At the end of the day, we scored a perfectly good goal, it was taken off us and subsequently we lost the game in the last 20 seconds. Makes a mockery of the game.
They should be prosecuted. Honestly, this level of incompetence and corruption now has to be scrutinised. This little gang of officials are a vicious old boys club

See a lot of Spurs fans saying these things even themselves out during the season.
Genuinely can't imagine what it feels like to win a game where the referee has clearly got you the result through several completely incorrect decisions. I imagine for most teams it's something you remember quite well and helps you deal with it when you are on the receiving end. Or for Man U you end up at the stage where you feel like it's your entitlement.

Absolutely bonkers seeing the decisions that lot are up in arms about, I was expecting to see daylight robbery when Arsenal beat them. Instead it was a close offside call and a 'foul' that could have gone either way. Would possibly pay to see them get our officiating for a game just to witness the unholy meltdown that would follow.

They conceded 2 gaols to 10 men. Why do they deserve anything?

Can we please just play Spurs at home next game. I want to fucking ROLL them.

Spurs are not the problem. It’s Man City/ Abu Dhabi we need to worry about. I still say give spurs the 3 points and give us one point for the goal we should have been awarded.

fuck off after getting countless vitriolic texts off my Spurs supporting mates and extended family i want to crush their little skulls in the palm of my hand, man city can wait
edit: realise this situation doesn't apply to most people in the greater merseyside area but if you've got family/friends from London then you know. believe me when I say Spurs fans are the fucking wooorrrrrst mate

If you think all of this is just ‘incompetence’ at this point then I’m sorry but you are an idiot or just insanely naive.
Some will be incompetence of course, we can never know which are, but to think all of this boils down poor decisions is just trolling.
Such incompetence that the guy can go to the effort to stop the game and go through replays until providing a freeze frame of the tackle on Jones instead of any full angles of the whole incident, but when it comes to a simple offside he decides, or the assistant var, to not bother checking for “reasons”, and complete the check with zero intervention.
It’s can be as simple as a hatred or bias, the same for other teams at times too, but either way this boys club needs disbanding and something else out in place.

In general we suffer from bias against us a lot because a lot of the officials are from Manchester and don't like us, but they still have to at least pay lip service to impartiality.
Yesterday's match went way beyond that.
You could compare it a bit to the Brentford game at home last season. Taylor is a Manc but he tries not to blatant in our games at least. However, after the fans booed the anthem before the match, it seemed clear he decided he was giving us nothing that day. It was embarrassing as they got free kick every single time they went down. They were time wasting all game and got away with it. Ali took less time on a goal kick and then got booked.
Then there was Newcastle away where we scored two perfectly good goals (last season). Kavanagh the Manc on VAR spent 5 minutes poring over the goals to see if he could rule them out. He couldn't, so they at least stood.
The ref and VAR had decided they were giving us nothing from the get-go yesterday.

I think systematic bias is a better description than conspiracy.
The refs are largely liverpool hating mancs, and thats all there is to it
This problem is much older than the oil money

If I was playing in that game, I would have lost my head and two-footed the referee. Our players were composed beyond what can even be expected. They saw all the mad decisions just like us.
Jota’s yellow wasn’t even a foul. He wasn’t even near him. That must get in your head.

Weird considering this season they were 2-1 up against 10 man Fulham with 17 mins (including injury time) left and ended up drawing 2-2. In fact they were one poor finish from Traore in the 97th minute from losing it.

Maybe, just maybe, he’s not as astute as this guy thinks he is….

I find it amazing at how Liverpool fans always play the victims, when 39 people died at their own hands: “After an eighteen-month investigation, the dossier of leading Belgian judge Marina Coppieters was finally published. It concluded that blame should rest solely with the Liverpool fans.”

Just think about how much more often they bring up Hillsborough rather than Heysel 🤷‍♂️🤔
Always bring this up, awful people. This is most likely also some of the reason the police acted like they did at Hillsborough. But nobody is allowed to mention that

Tell me why is it any different?

So having it normalised makes it ok...right.

If you can't see now you never will. Can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink.

Just stop, you are not making it any better...FFS using Couscous Vin Diesel to solidify your point.. Jesus wept.
