He’s been absolutely horrendous barring three headers. Everything else has been miss hit, sliced or just missed.

He's played 3 or 4 round the corner first time touches that have put players into space - including the ball that should have led to a goal only for Maddison to bizarrely not see the cross to Son.

Meanwhile none of Son, Deki or Maddison have a single thing of note in 45 minutes.

Like I said I'm hardly Richarlison's biggest fan - in fact I've always been a doubter - but this thread has the feeling of the kind of hatefest that lead to Royal and Dav being booed. Bizarre.

That's pretty stodgy and follows Ange's warning from Monday that players are getting a bit too comfortable with extra touches and slowing down our play. We're not moving the ball sharply enough and it's easy stay organised against us. We need the wide attackers or full backs to try their luck against Palace full backs. Hopefully Johnson comes on and gets instructed to run directly at/passed the full back. ANd maybe switch from inverted wingers to right-sided wingers to really stretch them backwards to the by line and for crossing without cutting back.

Really want us to take it to them and not let the constant fouling, twatty fans booing affect us. We're so much better than them and I want us to show it.

This is a game that requires width and we have Johnson and Gil on the bench. Hopefully they can offer that at sometime 2nd half.

On a serious note, it has been a game I expected.

After getting thrashed last week, Hodgsin has done what most older British coaches do. Just stay compact and play direct.

Maddison is struggling to get into areas where he can influence.
Kulusevski has a man forcing him back before he even receives it and can't spin them.
Son is being allowed to drop but as soon as he runs in behind, Palace drop really deep and crowd him out.

But we have our own issues which arent helping.

Richarlison is having a stinker with the ball at times and cannot go on the left which is compunded by the fact Davies is not the type of full-back comfortable with underlaps (technique/athleticism) and playign centrally.

So every time we work the ball to the left, Palace are happy to send one out to press but drop the others knowing that Richarlison and Davies cannot beat them 1v1.

The simple swap is to put Son on the left and Johnson come on in the centre,

We could also switch Deki and Richy for Johnson and Gil.

If Bentancur is okay, I would bring him on for Sarr and tell him to make lots of underlaps with the objective of running at the Palace defence inside

Been a tough first half but was always gonna be a tough game.

But had Maddison crossed first time to son from Richarlison's first time ball it would be 1-0.

We should also really be looking to use the far post cross to Richy a lot more from our right. He's got the beating of the defenders in the air. It's about us using Richy's strengths from the left he's good at playing those first time balls in behind like he did for Davies and Maddison and Udogie is a big miss as he linked well with him.

Woy is such a pathetic manager seriously, it’s all about pushing and kicking and playing a deep block to just prevent the other team playing as much as possible. They know exactly where the line of what they can get away with is and they go right up to it.
Look at the players he has available. They're absolute dross and yet they're competing with the current best team in the league. They could only do that with Roy's tactics.

That said we've been poor. Richy hasn't been the worst but you just know moves will break down when the ball comes to him. Offers so little other than an early pass for someone else to do something.

Was always going to be a tough game. Made tougher with these officials. Davies for Udogie is a considerable downgrade and not because Davies is terrible, just Udogie is fantastic and gives us so much physicality in the middle.

The ref has been far too soft with his cards which is allowing them to play their disruptive game with little kicks and fouls that they should not be getting away with without punishment. They'll be loving this officiating. Maddison has had both achilles raked without consequence.

I’d be tempted to give it 15 mins and bring on Johnson and Bentancur for Richarlison and Sarr. Put Johnson through the middle and see if we can get Son coming on to the ball where he can bend the shots in

Also I'd be very very wary of having Brennan and Davies on the same wing. Brennan is not capable of a defensive shift Richarlison is. I'd be tempted to switch Deki to the left if we were to bring Brennan on for more pace.

I think people are being way to harsh on Davies. Udogie would struggle just as much as they are sitting so deep. Davies hasn’t done anything wrong.

Hodgson is playing us right making use of the long ball into channels wide with our inverted full backs and not pressing us round our box, he knows we'll walk it out so he's setting the traps 35 yards out.
Our left hand side looks vulnerable without Destiny, Ben is not doing too bad but is losing the heading duals and being bullied, in fact they're trying to bully our entire back line, also the out ball in front of Davies and Van de Ven on the left is Richarlison so chances are it'll come straight back at them.
I see there's been some posts on here about Richarlison so all I'll say is bear in mind he wouldn't be playing if Perisic or Solomon were fit and it shows.

Errrr yeah.
I think it’s a case of Deki or Richy as your wide players you need one of your wingers with top end pace and who is a 1v1 demon. Deki brings a lot more to the table, Richy needs to be ushered out in my opinion

That said, Deki hasn’t done anything today so far except pass it backwards. When he plays like this he is incredibly frustrating to me
