If we believe the player is of the elite-level standard required, then it is a false economy to spend a disproportionate amount of time and effort haggling over a ‘few bob’.
If we don’t think he’s worth what is a relatively small sum to pay for a player we aspire to be part of a trophy winning team, should we be signing him at all?
The important thing is that Ange has specifically asked for early incomings. Haggling over the price and holding things up would be a really bad look for Levy. I'm optimistic that he's worked out that Ange is perfect for us and fully deserving of proper backing.
