Living in Australia, it is a bit hard to keep up with all our injury news, so do we actually know approximately how long Davies is out for.

If injury is around 2 more months, Kelly would be good for now and also being Davies long term replacement.
Ange said Davies will be out for "a month or so".

Thanks.

Well we can probably cover that time without needing to get Kelly.

Depends how much we have in our transfer kitty, how much Ange actually wants Kelly and whether we can think we can get him on a free or not (if we do want him)

I think the key words here are need & want.
We probably don’t need Kelly in Jan, although we do have to be very careful with both hamstrings, but we clearly want him. All depends on how much Bournemouth will ask for as a fee and whether we feel it’s worth paying that versus waiting for summer.

Pathways Smarfways! If they’re good enough, they’ll play or we’ll have good players to trade and upgrade areas of our squad that need improving.

Waiting for youth players to ‘become great’ is a dangerous business. Show ambition and those situations take care of themselves.
Dont think you understood my post.

It's not about waiting for youth, it's about Dragusin being able to cover both CB spots and a back up player for every position being overkill.

If we are interested in Kelly I can't imagine that anything would happen until the last few days of the window. Serves no purpose to pay up now, need to see how desperate Bournemouth might get when there is a realisation that they may get nothing if they can't agree a deal.

I guess @What Lies Beneath ’s ITK suggests that we are no longer looking at Lloyd Kelly anymore, and purely focused on bringing in a midfielder.
With Royal and Davies both being pretty handy in defence these days, Radu being comfortable both LCB and RCB and Phillips + Dorrington waiting the wings I wouldn’t be that fussed if we don’t go for him. If Phillips impresses with his loan i don’t see why he couldn’t take the 4th spot next season and if he doesn’t impress we can get Kelly on a free then.

Probably a move we can come back to at the end of the window

I did think Kelly could be a quite astute signing, would give us two natural RCB’s and two LCB’s.
However, given Dragusin is fairly comfortable right and left, I could see the benefit of going with just the three senior CB’s and Emerson and Davies to fill in as required if we are confident Phillips and Dorrington just need a bit more experience.

Looks like he is going to Newcastle and with Tosin apparently turning us down thats a couple of free transfers we have missed.

We have VDV, Romero and Dravidian with Davies 4th choice and Phillips as young backup.

Not sure anyone has turned us down or we’ve missed anything.

when you say 'missed' that suggests you think we lost out to Newcastle in some way. Do we know if we were actually interested?
