Rose to blame for the Toon goal, just watching the guy get away, he could not have been in a better position to react. But like the Villa goal he ended up on his arse. Too little , too late.
If he goes we will miss him, but no player is irreplaceable. We can adapt our style and possibly achieve a better outcome. Apart from the possibility of him going for nothing there are two additional concerns.

Rose is ok when he faces a wide player who hugs the line, mobile players that cut in lose him too easily. He backed away from the crosser for the first goal, and was out of position for the second. Davies is a much better, more adaptable defender. Winks hardly made a tackle or an interception...
Like Rose who played no part in pre season, and was reportedly trying to sign for Watford. The move to drop Jan was always on the cards when he played just 45 mins in tandem with Toby in per season. Ninety mins against Villa at home could not be that taxing, he had completed a full pre season
I can understand leaving a player out if his fitness levels are down, but why bring on two midfielders when you have a presumably fit, player of the year, top line defender sitting on the bench. Was Skipp a better bet than Vertonghen in the circumstances.
