    Player Watch: Marcus Edwards

He's coming off a season where he just played almost 2000 minutes in the top tier of Dutch football. Comments like this are very over-dramatic.

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2018/19

Marsh is only a year younger than Onomah. Poch kept Onomah around the first team for almost 2.5 years and played him over 30 times when he was 17-20. It's weird how people Poch trusting Onomah is swept under the carpet and he's pigeonholed as a no hoper with a terrible attitude.

Will Patching. Ex-City and England U17. No doubt about his talent, just missed basically two full years of football through injury.

Nah, it's because of registration + UEFA paperwork hold up. Same thing happened with Arvin Appiah at the U17 Euros last year. Didn't even come through until after the first group game. With England getting a bye through the first round of qualifying, it's exacerbated things. Just like the Euros...

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2018/19

The last U17 squad didn't contain any of the players who weren't born in England. Simeu, Cirkin, Okoflex, Musah, Carvalho, Sarmiento. Cirkin, Musah + Carvalho are all dead certs. I think as it's the first official UEFA fixtures they've had, there was a hold up in processing them for eligibility...

    Marcus Edwards - Excelsior

My post was a defence of Edwards tbf. The previous post mentioning Eriksen was basically 'well Eriksen has no problems so why does Edwards', I was just pointing out it's not a fair comparison as they're no way near the same size. Of course Eriksen's transition into senior football was smoother...

    Marcus Edwards - Excelsior

Also should be noted that Eriksen is like 7 inches taller than Edwards. Bit of an advantage.

What's the evidence for Onomah getting exposed time after time in the Championship?

    The Kyle Walker-Peters Thread

you really think that if he was especially bad in training Poch would be keeping him around, consistently naming him on the bench and Spurs would continually be giving him new contracts?

I feel most sorry for Amos cause he really should be out on loan or have been sold this summer. He was never a realistic first team candidate.

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2018/19

nah, I mean more that it's easier to crap on them in hindsight and claim they weren't as good as the 2000s when we've seen them fall off etc. Hindsight is probably the wrong way of phrasing it, maybe I mean that the 2000s have the benefit of no hinsight...yet.

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2018/19

I agree with most of this. An important point you raise is that they're too young to have let us down yet, so we're always going to judge them more favourably than the 97s until we have the benefit of hindsight. One way to look at it is that Oakley-Boothe's 2018/19 season is the equivalent of...

and if he's not good enough, then shouldn't them same people be concerned that there's a guy often on the Spurs bench who isn't ever good enough to play for them? It happens at every club, fans never want to sell youth players or get angry when they try to leave, but then the same fans never...

Clarke-Salter has been in it this season too, so three in a season must surely be a record.
