I see - they didn't really show Vermeeren doing any tackling in the reels I watched, so you mostly saw this ability to instantaneously, unerringly splash it anywhere he wants, via any type of pass, with his strong foot. Which Devine shares. Both of them also just dispatch awkwardly bouncing...
Was instantly reminded of Devine watching the youtube highlights of this guy. Maybe someone with much more wisdom can easily make clear why Vermeeren is several brackets above Devine, but I couldn't see it.
Presumably they can't be in a double pivot together, as they were IIRC last time, as Gio will likely play further forward than the other two, to make up numbers in attack.
But hopefully the Spanish speaking axis works vertically too
His style of play, the extra beat of time he seems to have receiving the ball and the potential to then go past the first presser without using pace, are actually really similar to Alex Scott at Bournemouth. So I can see why it was unjustifiable to spend £25m on Scott last summer if Lo Celso was...
Surely the hope isn't really that Gil will out muscle, or leave a full back for dead in a straight line race, just that he somehow catches them flat footed with skill or intelligence... Is Coufal particularly unlikely to be vulnerable to what Bryan can throw at him in that regard?
Is Bissouma actually turning out to be relatively fragile mentally, and should we only expect to get a run of good form out of him when he feels on top of the world for some reason?
