The Spurs Youth Thread - 2017/2018

Sissoko might be bigger, but barring half a dozen 'power runs' a season there is absolutely no footballing metric where he is better. Attack, defence, technique, vision, work rate, positional game, game/space awareness etc, etc. The only qualities that guy has is as a comfort blanket to...

But you back the ability of the organisation - that the academy is developing prospects (and we're talking about the most promising ones, not just throwing in any old kid for the sake of it) with quality, that they have a skillset that will see them able to slot into the first team and how it...

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2017/2018

I don't think you're reading the posts. If KWP is in the plans and will be getting opportunities, what was the point of popping 25 million on Aurier? Someone who himself has had teething problems and made plenty of mistakes. It could have been a season seeing if KWP was up to it. Why not look at...

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2017/2018

I don't know what to make about the first paragraph. Of course we are talking about the better prospects, those who we think have shown ability and no every single kid who gets taken into the academy. How can you ever know if they're going to be a starting player? You might hope they might be...

That is a silly way of looking at it. I go back to my post earlier, how many of the signings we have made and then promptly sold again made it at 'Top four level'? Comparing signed players vs. academy products it is actually about the same... You have all those dropping a rung or two (or more)...

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2017/2018

I don't think it's a case of right and wrong and which players have come back to haunt us. I guess it's down to each individuals viewpoint but personally I look at what the alternative is/was. Some of these pre-date the current era, a lot don't, but I look round at some of the players who are in...

The Spurs Youth Thread - 2017/2018

The usual retort, why do they have to be on some elite level? In the last couple of years we've had in the squad footballing fucktards like Sissoko, Aurier, the N'Randoms, Fazio, Wimmer, Janssen, a decrepit Llorente, and, if I was going to throw in a few controversial ones, even more. I think...

Don't think N'Random has completed a pass yet.

    The England World Cup Thread

Yeah was just having this discussion myself... I think the group stages could be turgid against smaller teams who sit deep, but beyond that if (a big if, I admit) we can remain solid then there is a considerable amount of pace there to counter attack teams and it's not beyond the wildest dreams...

    Europa League 2017/18

I loved that goal. The pass was clever and then four perfect touches on the run at top speed with a delightful finish at the end. Simple, but technically superb.

No I'd just move Walker to RB, and then if Young was needed after that then yes I'd be content with it. I still cant think of a scenario where three right backs is necessary.

Young has played RB as well before, and is also right footed. In an emergency he could shift across and cover RB, with Delph doing the same at LB to keep the two options on either flank. Not to mention I don't see why we would play a back three in all games, and so Walker will probably end up...

Player Watch The Kyle Walker-Peters Thread

Onomah compared to Lewis Cook is also an interesting one. Last summer for the U20 team Onomah was the superior player in the cm2 in basically all aspects of the game. One year later, whatever has gone wrong, the superior looking one has had a wasted season whilst the other is on standby for the...

    The England World Cup Thread

The silly selection is the three right backs, completely unnecessary and smacks of a poorly thought out flavour of the month choice that England managers tend to do at tournaments. If they wanted to select TAA it should have been instead of Trippier, not take all of them. If Walker is selected...

    The England World Cup Thread

Basically a lot of defensive players, some attacking players who need to be fed, no midfielders, definitely no creative types who can control a game and pick the right pass at the right time. Reads like a team that will sit back and then look to launch counter attacks with our numerous pacey...
