Really behind sorry. I have 3 games on tape and haven't written in my blog in days.

Gustavo
Valera at Schalke? Not seen much of him. Seems like a wasted signing. But has been shackled with knee issues. He's 28

:) I'm talking about the Brazillian kid at Hoffenheim. I saw him in CM and he was really good, but apparently he plays as a defender also.

I did a piece for a show called the Third Half this week on the Bundesliga. It's the first segment. It can be found below. Any constructive criticism would be helpful as he has asked me to come back.

You sound very like Gab Marcotti. Infact you should take over the whole show, as the other bloke's voice gave me earache, and he took 3 minutes of waffle just to get started.

I've just listened to a BMJ interview on the BBC iplayer, but I'll post it seperately incase it's off topic, as it's mostly about Spurs, though he starts off talking about the Bundesliga.

I'm watching Bayern v Wolfsburg and it is another Bundesliga cracker. I don't care waht anyone says, this is currently the most entertaining league in Europe.

It's now 4-2 to Bayern, after Wolfsburg went 2-0 up. And this sort of game seems to happen every week.

Okay I get to watch die Hoffe this week.

But I found this in a Spiegel interview of Dietmar Hopp

Hopp: No. When you are in danger of being relegated, recently acquired new players only create uncertainty. Referring to Hoffenheim, Leverkusen coach Bruno Labbadia recently said: "Having money is one thing; investing money right is another." We got the player Luiz Gustavo, for example, at a very good price -- about €100,000 ($128,000). Players like Andreas Ibertsberger, Tobias Weis and Marvin Compper joined the club for not a lot of money. And even if we don't fight to remain in the top class, in my view, investing in the team right now would be the wrong thing to do -- at least in strategic terms Eek

Hoffe are quite good odds for this game. HSV are without so many players and played on Thursday. 1.7/1 seem generous. I thought Hoffe would have been odds on.

BTW don't expect to be wowed by Gustavo. I'm interested to see what you think of his potential as a future Prem player.

Saw some of the Bayern game, joey. Quite a humdinger.

I also watched Leverkusen Vs Koln this week (inspired by this thread actually), which was much better than I expected. Keisling is a player I've always liked and he put in a terrific shift again. One of the hardest working forwards I've seen - or maybe I'm just not used to it watching Spurs every week.

And now watched Jol's boys get their asses handed to them. 3-0 to Hoffenheim. All the goals in the first half. Pretty fair result, too. Poor BMJ.

It's just confirming what i've been saying for a while, which is that they were in a false position. It just isn't possible with that squad to challenge for the top 3. Top 6 should be their target and even that will be tough. At the start of the season they were 6th favourites and that is before Hoffe were in the equation.

HSV looked decent when they were at full strength, but that hid just how weak the squad depth is. Without De Jong they have to play Benjamin, who wouldn't even be Championship standard. Neves replaced VDV, but he's been injured and when played struggled to adapt to the more physical nature of the Bundesliga. They didn't have particuarly good fbs anyway, but now they are all injured. Guerro's injured so they have to play Petroipa, who though very skillful is yet to actually produce anything of consequence, which is probably why he spent his career to date in the 2 Bundesliga.

And this is all comes at a time when they face 7 teams in a row that will all be in the shake up for either CL or UEFA places at the end of the season. Also they have to play 5 games in a 12 day period. Basically they are totally fucked. I think they might even find themselves in the bottom half by December. Looking at their up coming fixtures, with the injuries they have, i can't see where the next win is coming from (probably Bochum on the 30th of Nov) .

I only saw the 2nd half of the Hoffe games so missed all the main action. Why were you watching the first half? Spurs were playing at the time!

Fucking hell, caught out! Good work, Poirot!

Nah, for some reason they're showing loads of Bundesliga games at random times here. Most are delayed. Or more likely they have been for years but I never knew because Mrs O would rather watch The Amazing Race of My Wife & Kids or some other bilge. She's away now, so I'm indulging myself. 7 Premier League, 3 Bundesliga and 1 La Liga game in one weekend.

I did the same 3 Bundesliga as you, 2 La Liga games and 3 Prem. I watch a similar amount every weekend:). For entertainment, this season, the Bundesliga is easily the best.

DoubelPivot is right about Bayer. You saw them on a bad day. When they are in full flow there are one of the best sides to watch in Europe. It's between them, Bayern and Schalke for the title. Hoffe and Werder will probably finish 4th and 5th, with Wolfsburg and Stuttgart favourites for 6th. Sadly I think BMJ and HSV will miss out on a UEFA spot this season.

I usually watch:

3 premier league
2 Serie A
1 Bundesliga
1 Argentine Primera Division

Although I like to mix it up a little and sometimes watch games on different leagues instead if i'm in the mood for scouting :)

My timezone also allows me to watch NFL, NBA (Soon to start) and NHL aswell.

Well, I did indeed watch Bayer again. Tough game against Werder but they got 3 very good points. Very impressed with the defence (and midfield) of both sides. Looked like a stalemate for ages. Both sides were very disciplined and hard working.

And BMJ looks on the way to his own good 3 points. 2 up against Stuttgart. I've not seen much of this but Gomez has been disappointing. Missed a good chance, passing has been poor, got a silly booking and to add insult to injury HSVs 2nd deflected off him. I know this isn;t reflective, though. And his touch has been quite good.

I saw the first half of this. HSV won 2-0. I'll watch the 2nd half later. The Bayer - Werder game was very odd. Normally if Werder are playing you'd never say things like "impressed with the defence," yet for most of the game I'd agree that both sides were good defensively.

saw it too, but for me, not so neutral, as Dortmund is my home team, Borussia was the better team but HSV had the better striker...The change betwin HSV and Dortmund with Petric for Zidan looks till now as a flop:bang:

I was in Germany, watching Ajax play HSV on Thursday.
Quite frankly Hsv were rubbish and Ajax were poor but Hsv,look like spurs at the end of his spurs career.
What a stadium though,if our new stadium is like this it could be a cauldron of noise.

According to Mopo (local hamburg newspaper), which is more reliable than most German press, particualry regarding HSV news, Nigel De Jong is available for 2 million euros in the summer, as his contract stipulates he can leave for that amount.

Apparently a fee had been agreed for him to sign for Real Madrid this Jan, but they went for Diarra instead. We should try and sign him. It would be hard for HSV to turn down a 7 million euro offer now and risk losing him for 2 million in the summer.

Interesting Joey. I am of the opinion that De Jong has always been the one to make HSV and the Netherlands tick.

They've definitely missed him this season. People talk about the loss of VDV, but for the 2nd half of last season, they played De Jong and Kompany as DM pairing and as a result their back 4 was very well protected and they hardly conceded. Now they have Silva and Jarolim in the middle and neither of them are have the ability to set a tempo and make the team tick. Silva is clearly a CB and Jarolim is a very good battling midfielder, but his passing is at times shocking. I think they've missed De Jong massively.

What do you think of Gajko Kacar at Hertha? I've seen him 3 times and think he looks a real prospect. I need to watch him more, but based on the limited amount of seen him, I can see him being a top player.
