I seriously think we should bring back standing terraces. I can’t stand sitting down at football matches and it does my head in with the overly aggressive stewards telling you to sit down all the time.

Speaking to MattyP he said they have brought back standing in Germany, so is it time they brought I back over here? I realise that there is danger with crushing or whatever but I’d happily sign a waiver or something to be able to stand all game. It creates far more atmosphere.

It would be awesome if the law changed before we built our stadium. It will also enable us to fit more people into a stand.

There was a member on here, can't remember who, that was championing this campaign. He may be able to provide more info.

I'm not sure it ever went away in Germany.

It's completely bloody ridiculous that we can't have at least one standing section. You've got far more chance of getting crushed under a bus in the High Road than in the stands.

My Dad's a Fulham fan and I went to Craven Cottage with him for a few games when they first got into the Prem. We stood in the last premiership terrace and it brought back memories.

The atmosphere is so much better. It's hard to sing when you're sitting down.

It will never happen, but there is really no reason why ticket-only games can not be standing on at least one stand or the bottom tier

Plus these days they don't have the fences between the stand & the pitch so crushing is less of an issue

I've never stood in a stand. Is it still allocated? i.e. Do you get a marked patch of ground to stand in, or is it stand where you want? If its the latter, you'd have to get there really early to get the best spots?

One downside would be for the ladies. Mine's only 5' 4" and when everyone is standing up, she can't see. Does suck when she pays £35 a ticket for a team she doesn't really support.

It should be brought back to at least a section of the ground. I couldn't go in it as I'm too small and wouldn't be able to see.

I used to love standing on the terraces (on my dads shoulders) watching Tranmere Rovers (my local team), I remember getting crushed once when they played Villa and won 3-1, the utter panic and the relief as my dad grabbed hold of me. Good times.

No, no, yes, yes.

Tough shit, grow a bit.

You would hope that the prices would be a lot less for standing.

During one low point in the 70's you could sit on the terracing and watch a match at
any side or end of the ground - even changing ends at half time.

They never went away from standing areas in Germany, only for international games you have all seaters. For example in Dortmund you have the home terrace with 25.000 people ,and for UEFA-Cup games they change this with mobile seats to 10.000 peope. But the most clubs make the standing aereas for the away sups. smaller to earn more money!!!.

I watched the Wembley Spurs / QPR game on terraces and as we'd been drinking before the game and it was packed to get out to the lav, it was a case of going where you stood - you either soaked a leg or got soaked by someone else. Good times.

TBH you could keep your seats and just have the option of standing or sitting. Or, better, have standing terraces with the 'leaning' rails but have like a small marked area where you are to stand (for example you stand same place every time if you have a ST). It's easy! That way you have allocated standing place with ticket/season ticket admission. Just like seating but without the seats!

I hate being told to sit down. Like you're at school or something. I'm surprised they don't tell you to shut up as well. Wanker stewards. I know they're only doing their job but their job involves telling people to sit. I would refuse to do the job as I think that fans have a right to stand-up.

Legs aching? Wanna sit down? Watch it on TV FFS! Or go sit in the West Stand.

Yep, us women can't go where we stand though! I remember in the '81 cup final, not daring to drink in case I needed the loo! And I still got splashed by the men standing nearby!

As for standing at league games, I think there should be an area where you can stand if you want to. At least with seats now, I can see the game. I used to miss most of it craning my neck to see round the giants in front of me.

A shortarse agrees. I remember a lot of game where I'd have to look up at the sky every now and then for a bit of a change from looking at the back of some geezer's neck.

p.s.
Wasn't able to get a ticket for Park Lane for Dinamo so went into the East Stand corner. Stood for the entire game without anyone telling us to sit down.

Don't think it will ever happen in England, but would love it have terraces though...

I go to the terraces at Aldershot, absolutely love them! Much better atmosphere than at WHL, but Tottenham are my first team so I prefer WHL! But Aldershot is only 2 mins away from me!

Its all about health & safety, recently at my school the boarding houses aren't allowed christmas trees because of health and safety! Might aswell just close down the whole fucking school for 'health & safety', its such a piss take...

I'm from another country who is yet to make the dream come true to be on WHL, but i think the club decided that for children and old men who can't stand and saw the pitch if other supporters are standing.

I think the best way is, to suggest it to the stadium manager, he can make better arrangement for next season, he could make a special place on the stands for who want to stand.
