I think it's different combinations
The Hudd brings the best out in Jenas, because he creates space for Jenas to run into, while Jenas incredible engine means he can cover any gaps left by Hudds lack of mobility.

Meanwhile, Zokora and Modric are good for eachother because Zokora's lack of invention is made up for by Modric's constant scheming and probing.

In reality, Hudd is too immobile to play with Modric, Jenas is not defensive enough to play with Modric. Zokora and Modric compliment eachother quite well.

Palacios is a player of similar style to Zokora, but with a touch more discipline, a lot more ability and a tougher tackle (Zokora is more interceptor than tackler). Therefoer, I think that Palacios is someone who would be a very good partner for Modric, and their similar ages would mean they could grow together in our midfield for a long time.

However, much as I like Palacios, I will not be heartbroken to have to make do with Zokora and Modric till the end of the season. It is a more than competent combination.

you see I wouldn't be. Yesterday was a good example of the reason why. Modric just couldn't pass to Zokora and get it back. not till Bentley came on and cut inside did modric have someone to pass and recevie the ball off. If you play Zokora you might as well be admitting you're not bothered if modric gets the ball enough or not.

We don't lack effort and legs in the team we lack accuracy and skill on the ball.

hudd and palacios together could work, trouble with tom seems to be, like all our other midfielders, just missing one little ingredient to be great in a 4-4-2 which it doesnt seem arry will deviate from

Seems to be lost on most but our good form and subsequent bad form has coincided oddly with Hud being in the team and then Hud not being in the team.

I don't understand peoples obsession with his mobility or lack of. He passes it to feet and with a variety of distance, direction and pace. Get in a few other half as talaneted passers to do his running if you need to but for christ sake play him.

Think he'll probably leave soon and be great for someone else.

I do realise that our good form was with Hudd in the team, but ultimately Harry wants to strikers, and don't think the balance would be right with Hudd and Luka. Yes passing is important, but we have to think how we are set up when we don't have the ball as well.

Hudd is best in a 433/ 451, moreso than any other the other midfielders.

he is best when he has bent in the team because bent is the only striker who makes the sort of runs that hudd picks out.

likewise, bent is lost without hudd.

I like the huddmeister but I think if we get Palacios he might well be the big loser. I'd hope I'm wrong though.

I see where you're coming from but I really think that if Palacios and THudd played a few games together they would click really well. If Harry ever gives that combo a chance with Modric either on the left or more advanced behind 1 striker (neither that likely) or injured (hopefully not but you never know...) I think it would be a really good partnership.

Les says that the deal will go through soon and that it will be good to have a new player around the place to give everyone a lift!

Sir Les on setanta (according to people in the ITK thread) says that Wiiiiiiiilllllllssssssooooooon is close to being a Spur. Have that mail actually called a transfer correctly for once?

Well, if you try something 100times it is bound to happen once.

Apart from Zokora trying to score

the Mail say he has travelled down tonight to talk turkey:

Palacios, meanwhile, travelled to London last night for talks over a move to White Hart Lane and further discussions are planned for this morning.

Spurs have agreed the fee with Wigan, which will be paid over two years after a request to spread the payments over four years was rejected.

Palacios, 24, will be offered the chance to more than quadruple his £7,000-a-week wages at the JJB Stadium in return for overcoming misgivings about moving to the capital.

Spurs also remain interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper to
provide competition for Heurelho Gomes.

Redknapp is not convinced by reserve keepers Ben Alnwick and Cesar Sanchez and the Spaniard could be offered the chance of a return to his native Spain, with Espanyol and Valencia interested.

Sorry not convinced at all still ! Love to see him at Lane, but I think he will hold out at Wigan till the Summer. Please Please do not let Tom go, the lad is vital to the team ! I rather see Jenas/Bentley or Bent depart !

Tottenham Hotspur will close the deal today for Wilson Palacios after the Wigan midfielder travelled to London last night. Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, will negotiate personal terms with the Honduras midfielder having agreed a £14m deal for the player with Wigan.

Palacios, 24, was almost lost to Tottenham on Friday night when Manchester City made an inquiry about the player, as revealed in The Independent on Saturday. However, City eventually agreed to stand aside in exchange for Spurs ending their interest in Craig Bellamy. Despite reports yesterday that Palacios was having second thoughts about a move to Spurs, the club were still confident that the deal would happen. He was offered a new deal by Wigan before the weekend but turned it down.

Now Tottenham turn their thoughts to a striker with Levy looking outside the Premier League and across Europe for a suitable player. There is an acceptance at the club that they are going to have to look at some of the less well-known options who have been offered to them this month.

Spurs have not ended their interest in the Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones but are more pessimistic now about persuading Sunderland to sell him. Levy has promised Redknapp that he will do everything he can to get his manager another striker as well as Jermain Defoe, however it is unlikely that there will be anyone in place before the end of the week.

Ledley King's injury is not as serious as first thought – he has a slight hamstring strain rather than a tear. The Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who has a groin problem that has prevented him from taking goal-kicks, said that he believed that Spurs had the necessary quality to avoid relegation this season.

"Everyone is very confident in the dressing room, we believe we can win more games and make sure Tottenham climb the table," he said. "My message is believe in us because we have good players here and we know in many games we haven't played very well," Gomes said. "Everyone has confidence in the dressing room. Who knows who can climb up the league, but we all have confidence in getting up the table."

Despite the impending loss of Palacios, Wigan midfielder Lee Cattermole insists the team will bounce back from successive defeats in Manchester and prove they are worthy of their place in the Premier League's top 10.

Saturday's 1-0 reverse at the City of Manchester Stadium followed just three days after an identical scoreline against United at Old Trafford. Prior to that the team had won six out of seven in the league, a run which lifted them to seventh in the table. "The attitude [against Manchester City] was brilliant and if we show attitude like that in all of our games we will be unlucky not to come away with three points," he said. "You see what people are saying about us at the minute. People are taking notice and respecting the fact they won't have an easy game against us. It works both ways because it means teams get more up for it than they would in the past."

do we really need another striker right now? i mean that can wait until the summer

It depends on the situation with Bent. If Harry really doesn't rate the guy and can get a reaonable price for him, the a number 9 who can compete with Pavlyuchenko will be needed.

If Palacios happens, I won't mind if we sign nobody else this window
