Might we just, for the first time in 20 years be considered very outsiders for the title?

Outsiders yes, but genuine outsiders. Dark horses if you will, but without the scoffing and snide remarks. Actually a team to command genuine respect, not just good on our day.

Redknap is already saying the big 4 should fear us

If we get a result tomorrow then they must do. If we have beaten two of the tite contenders within the space of a month, we must have an outside chance surely? If not now, when?

(caveat is that we have to beat Man U, otherwise we are where we always were, top 6 chellengers)

If we can get 4-6 points from the next 2 games, then yes, I think we are genuine contenders.

i wouldn't say this yet.

plus i think we will get killed tomorrow.... and for anyone who said: but you probably woudl have said the same for liverpool, well, no, i realyl didn't say the same for liverpool coz they have weaknesses. rio is back apparently and the only hope i have is that they have been weak recently. rio i think will sort that out though. i'd love to be wrong.

Tomorrow is only the fifth, I repeat fitfh, game of the season. Far too early to even be thinking about such lofty aspirations.

Remember, we are Tottenham (albeit super Tottenham) and in the 42 years I've been following the team every time talk of winning the league, or even getting into the CL, rears it's ugly head, it all goes to hell in a hand cart.

Let's just enjoy the ride that 'Arry is taking us on and see where it takes us.

I wasn't suggeting that we WOULD win the league, just that we could be genuine outsiders. If there is any kind of definition for that, it must be a side that has beaten Liverpool and Man U in the first 5 games. If you are not outsiders for the title then, then you never will be.

It's not just about doing well against the top 4. We only lost 2 of 8 games against all of them last season. It's about not slipping up against the other 15 teams.

So far so good but there's an awful long way to go.

I agree with you that if we beat Man U we would be outsiders to win the league or at least get into the champions league but I would point out that we always tend to play the big boys pretty well, just can't seem to put away the relegation fodder/middle of the pack. Also didn't we beat Liverpool at the Lane last year as well, its not like we have taken a ton of points that we didn't take last year yet so until we start beating teams we lost to last year aren't just still on pace to finish 6th-8th? (don't have the time to research this point so if I am wrong please feel free to let me know)

I would also think this talk should probably be saved until Christmas time or so. By then we will have seen everyone in the league once and get a pretty good idea of how far we can go. You don't usually see someone win the league that isn't in the top 4 by Christmas time. (don't have any stats to back that up just a guess from me, god I'm a lazy bastard:hump:)

I don't think we will be contenders for the title this season (even outside contenders) wheter we win tomorrow or not.

Getting in the top four is more than enough of a challange for us this year, if we somehow manage to do that it will have been n outstanding season. Being in the title race this year is a pipe dream

Agreed. For the title, not a chance. For the top 4, maybe but even that will be difficult.

Interesting to read in London Lite/The London Paper that Fergie is bigging us upto challengefor the top four, though it is probably just his usual mind games.

I'll take two draws from our next two games, then back to winning ways.

yeah it is but if we beat manure and go 5 outta 5 knocking off 2 of the big 4 and 3 others then we're showing early season form of a title contender. I don't for 1 minute think we'll win it but fact is our form puts us right up top
