The fact we can't name a striker to play in that role shows our major flaw. Personally I'd play Crouch as we'd get goals from midfield.
Sorry not trying to bring everyone down as I have no doubt we tried to
improve our forward line.
Really not bothered about this signing, I think with Defoe and Crouch our only pace and target options upfront we are going to struggle if one of those two gets injured.
I'd rather see us overspend by 10 mill on a striker that can offer pace AND aerial threat that we obviously lack at the moment.
We have a 200 million pound squad and a gaping hole upfront where pav is currently sitting.

He would be a great signing because he looks to operate a little bit higher up the pitch than your Modric and Kranjcar. I could see him linking up with them fantastically, then sliding in one of our poachers.
I'm amazed he stayed at Madrid so long. I know his wife had cancer and that might have complicated things, and with each new manager you might think you have a chance this time, but he would have been ideal for Utd, the scums, a Milan.
