A legitimate criticism of Aaron Lennon?

That's not it, Damian. I have watched Lennon's movement like a hawk when he has a mobile full back behind him. And it's atrocious. I honestly think he has no football brain and I have picked out 4 examples of what I'm driving at from the first half alone. I am very tempted to start a thread about it later tonight.

Go for it . I did like the BAE thread.

He plays the give and go game, probably because it works, a hell of alot.

Charlie has the ability to slide lovely passes for Lennon inside, meaning he receives the ball when he's running at full speed to get the edge on the defender.

I think it's more a defined tactic to mix up his game, rather than something you can criticise on. Lennon has been a much more complete player this year for me. He took a little while to get going because he was still injured during the WC and didn't get much of a chance to recover, but he's been a consistent performer this year and has added more to his game.

He's still one of the best out and out wingers at helping out his full back - he does it more than Bale who is also considered a left back.

You have hit the nail on the head there. Absolutely spot on!!!

Kaboul is the answer! To Lennons problems. Poor old charlie is just not fast enough!

I think that's rubbish mate. Corluka and Lennon were an outstanding partnership last season until his injury. I don't even think Lennon has played with Kaboul has he? maybe against City and Burnley, where Lennon was unfit.

I think Kaboul should be there regardless

That's why he works better with Corluka usually, as he can do the thinking whilst Lennon just does the running. Corluka's passing has been off a bit lately though.

The issue is that Lennon usually relies on Charlie to play the pass, before making the run, which usually requires a phenomenal ball form Charlie - which happens occasionally. Lennon usually plonks himself wide on the touch line, receives the ball to feet and gives it straight back to Charlie, or else he tries the little "round the corner" with the outside of his boot, which rarely comes off. This means that when our full-back is on the ball, Lennon actually closes the space for him to run into, and because he is so wide to the touch line, the full-back can't go on an overlapping run.

So, Lennon stands still, receives the ball and gives it straight back, then moves a bit, but because it is so predictable, he is usually well marked. If he offered the run more often then opposing full-backs or wingers would be more wary of him, and the more he "burns" them, the deeper they are likely to sit.

If he plays against Arsenal, and I'm watching it online, I'll try and post in here when there are examples in the game.

think it is Charlie not able to always provide the pass required. Lennon is not the problem, with Walker or someone else it will be much better.

Have to agree with Kendall on this one.

I think Charlie has shown on occasion that he is well capable of playing the pass required.

And apart from that, how has he improved? I want examples.

His final ball is much better, he can put in a half decent cross from time to time, and he scores the odd goal.

He also tracks back a good bit, but I'm not sure if that is something he has added
