Thought Parker was good again today and Bale was decent when he stayed on the left. King and Assou-Eketto didn't have great games nor did Modric really, Ade was ok.

Walker was the only outfield player to show heart I agree. Friedel was pretty blameless apart from maybe the 3rd goal.

Cant see what VDV did when he came on, didnt see any increased effort compared to the others, who were abysmal.

Rafa, didn't stop running, and got into some really good positions. Was trying his best to rally the team but unfortunatly the rest of the team were too busy believing their own hype.

I know you were at the game so probably got a better impression of it, by that stage of the match tbh I was only half paying attention but he didnt seem to be putting in an extraordinary effort compared to the others. If (and thats a big if!!) I watch it back I may evaluate and appreciate his second half performance a bit better

We may have been 2-0 up but we were never in control of the game.

Gap between fronline and midfield was terrible, forwards never able to hold ball up but similarly no-one to lay it back to.

Modric and Parker were overwhelmed in central midfield with their space cosed down so fast they misplaced pass after pass and made it look they were dallying on ball.

Defensively we were static, never tracking players on simple one two's.

All round a bad performance and one to be quickly forgotten.

Walker came out of the game on a positive side and so did Lennon, even though he didnt play, because it showed that we miss his pace out wide

Yep agree with the general comments here, good performances from Walker and Friedal, good to see VDV at least trying to make things happen, and good bit of leadership shown by Dawson when he came on (that single moment refutes any of the utter bollocks arguements we've heard on here in the past that Dawson isn't captain material).

Very sad to see Ledley so poor, initially I was glad to see him and Younes but I wonder if Dawson and Kaboul may have been a better choice.

You don't really have to be "in control of the game" against Arsenal though. At 2-0 up we should have been able to let them have posession and then hit them on the break. The trouble was that we were defensively horrendous, and I think a lot of that came from two of our four midfielders (Bale and Kranjcar) just switching off whenever the opposition had the ball.

At 2-2 the substitutions were clearly intended to get control of the midfield but replacing Kranjcar with van der Vaart was just like for like in terms of their defensive contribution and all that really happened was we lost our attacking threat.

VDV and Sandro were woefully underdone and Harry knew it....that's why he didn't start them IMO....the problem being that his changes were designed to wrest back momentum but involved players who had been out for weeks

Friedel was poor IMO. Although our defense was farcical.

Wtf

Great save from the header from the corner and finger tip save from Benayoun or Rosicky I can't remember. Could only have done better on the 3rd goal maybe but even that is a bit harsh. Couldn't do anything about any of the other goals.

He was completely exposed today.

Friedel did his best today, even Joe Hart was gonna struggle when his defence was capitulating in front of him.

I forgot to mention how poor Benny was, terrible performance - clearance on the van Persie goal is basics right? Just get it the hell out a corner/throw in would have done.

King had a game like a few years back when we got battered 3-0/3-1 and he just got ripped to shreds in that game. King's game now is positional and got heavily exposed by pace.

I thought Kaboul was excellent but even he lost his head once they had equalised.

*sigh* it was just awful....was 5-2 but felt like 8-2

He worked hard and showed some grit and ran his ass off through an injury. He hustled out there which is what counts and what my point was. As for him not being good, I disagree, but you can only play as good as your worst player.

Every time he is defending one on one I fear the worst. He will get better in time. I watched the game here in a pub and didn't have a super clear view of the tackle on Gibbs, but it could well have been a pen.

But yes, he did seem to work hard - flew up the field like a machine. He's just not quite there yet. That said, I'm convinced he will be one of the best in the prem in a couple of years.

On another note, people were saying that RVP was the only player of theirs that could get into our squad. I'm pretty sure Sagna would be there too.

Benny unfortunatley has those types of games in his locker. He can have absolute howlers. Usually Redknapp seems to pick up on these early and hauls him off.

ridiculous display yesterday. No shape, no balls and tactics wrong. Before game I would have liked to have seen Lennon and Sandro start, but having seen what Sandro contributed when he came on I can see why he didnt start.

NOt sure what Redknapp does next weekend now against Utd. He'll be afraid to try 442 again and with Parker out its time to shake it up a bit. Lennon, VDV and Sandro should all start. Adebayor needs a boot on the hole. Play with some passion, get angry, show some determination. Tool.

4-4-2 isn't the problem, its the players who play in it and how they perform.
I would go with 4-5-1 against Utd, but if we were to play 4-4-2, it must be with Azza and Bale on the wings.

Gutted at 2-0 up we couldn't make it 3-0 (think Saha had a chance to square it to Bale unmarked in the box). That would have sealed it. All this Walcott talk cracks me up. He was useless for most of the match, but managed to score two goals and suddenly he's the saviour of English football again.

Friedel made some amazing saves, possibly could have done better for one or two goals. King, BAE, Modric, Kranjcar, Adebayor all very poor in my book. Bale, Kaboul, Parker, VDV just okay. Sandro looked like he didn't know what was going on.

Walker wasn't that good. He just wasn't as shit as the others.

Exactly, said the same in the ratings thread. Wasted a great chance by thrashing at it, and also got himself skanked by Gibbs once. But at least showed some heart and desire, on a day when many just didn't apply themselves properly.

And Friedel made two fabulous saves and maybe I'm being harsh but I thought he was a bit leaden footed for both the first two goals, neither of which went down the edges, both went in quite central.
