Not a knee jerk reactions....

We were complete and utter garbage today and deserved that hiding...

We set up wrong today! why play 442 and not have bale supplying from the left and Lennon from the right? Isn't that the tactics that put us in the position we are in?

friedel - our best player
Walker - not bad
Kaboul - worst display for tottenham since coming back, looked like he didn't want to be out there
King - slow sluggish and for me not good enough against quality strikers like van Persie
BAE - horrendous, get he all away constantly.
Bale - where was he playing? Apart from the pen did he do anything else?
Parker - got stuck in but at 5-2 down in the 87th min, almost intheir half...was there any need?
Modric - a few nice passes and worked hard
Kranjcar - why was he found t left back more than on the right side of midfield
Saha - did more than ade, I would have left him on
ade - shite! Did nothing did he control one pass?

Mr Redknapp - got it totally wrong today, fed up of seeing bale in the middle of pitch and kranjcar on the pitch. If you are going to play 442 you can't give one of your midfielders a free role against 451 it's basic stuff!!!!

Substitutions - a disgrace! Why take off Saha and kranjcar and bring on vdv and Sandro where it was clear for everyone to see when we did stretch them was the only time we looked dangerous.... Sandro them just ran around like a headless chicken for 45 min spending more time in front of ade???

Everything went wrong today but I feel we had ths coming and ultimately we were set up to fail today.

When Harry goes to be England manager Spurs should hire antlesh to replace him. He has all the answers!

Kranjcar earned his right to play today, why are you fed up of him playing? What has he done wrong before today?

I agree with lots of this but it still doesn't change the fact that we were 2nd best all afternoon and at times 3 scum players were challenging for the ball with 1 spurs player

Today the scum were fitter, stronger and hungrier

Nail on the head!! Redknapp got it so wrong. why on one of of the biggest pitches in the league would you give up the midfield by going with a 442 even Man utd match them up when they play. should have gone with Lennon I am disappointed at the fact people forget how valuable he is to us defensively as well as offensively. Today has been a wash out and its no thanks to Mr England and players that believe there own hype. A lesson has been well and truly taught today.

What has he done? He was average in a world class first half display against Newcastle I would have looked good that day.... His positioning was all over the shop and he is genuinely the slowest player at the club......

I buy into what Gary Neville's been saying for a while now-that English clubs are struggling in Europe because they're too open. Even when we mullered Newcastle, I felt we allowed them too many opportunities in the first half-we didn't do enough to stop a series of crosses and we found ourselves really stretched on one or two occasions. Sometimes we get away with it because of the deficiencies of the opposition/good last ditch defending but today, as against Man City, we looked very fragile.

We 'mullered' Newcastle because they had the gall to come to The Lane and play 442. Then we do exactly the same at The Emirates.
Exposed as a sheep in wolf's clothing today.
5-2 didn't even flatter them.
If Parker had a brain half the size of his heart he might just make a decent player.

I think that's a bit unfair on Parker, Jimmy. Maybe if the likes of Modric had a fucking heart, we wouldn't be so flimsy.

I ve got to agree with this he is a great ball winner for me but when he gets further up the pitch he is lost and clueless.....

We should have played 5 in midfield, simple. Lennon should have started.

A point would have killed them.

We got it wrong and got punished. Simple as that.

I agree with a lot of what you say (and JH), but, at the end of the day:

We were two goals up, and Ade could have slotted Bale through, who was running into the right of the area, which could easily have put us 3 goals up. I doubt that the Goons would have come back from that - was Ade's failure to spot the run, or choose it if he did, down to bad tactics

The Goons got back into the game due to a header from a midget from a corner. No matter what tactics we play, teams will get corners against us. From what I could see, Bale put his foot up pathetically when he should have attacked the ball aggressively with his head. If he had I doubt Sagna would have got to it, or, at least, got a clean head on it - was that down to tactics.

RVP scored because he was allowed to turn and shoot on the edge of the area. Sunday League kids know that if you allow the oppos to do that you will be in trouble. That wasn't down to tactics, either.

Not everything in football is down to tactical formations.

Their three goals in the second half - now that is a different matter.

Hint of sarcasm? Just saying it how I see it....

But you say it with such certainty and talk of "basic stuff". It all looks basic with hindsight, but it looked to me like we were 2-0 up in this game and certain players thought it was all wrapped up and they didn't need to defend.

I think Harry got the subs very wrong today, but hopefully he (and the players) will learn a lesson from this.

Parker is not a player I would pick to play on the break, he always slows down attacks inconceivably. Much rather have Huddlestone.

Tactics from the outset, were they wrong?

lol the standard kneejerk thread. 2 weeks ago there was mass hysteria over wanting Harry to stay, not its Harry is not tactically good enough, poor team selection etc.

Ridiculous!!

Agreed on this part.
