Just read this.

If we get past Bolton tonight and Chelsea get their wish, we could end up playing the semi final on a Friday night.

I think something likes this requires both clubs to agree to the change so im not sure whether it is a non starter or not but i cant see why we would be happy to help them out.
I seem to remember we had to play them one Saturday Lunchtime after a Thursday night away trip in Europe because they refused to have it moved... sod them i say !

Chelsea have to beat Benfica 1st though, which is unlikely

On the main point why shouldn't it be moved to a Friday, all other nations help their teams in Europe except the English

Would it really have the same feel to it....its not a League game we are talking about here, its the semi final of the FA Cup.

Im with Mr Pink....Hasnt the competition been devalued enough in recent times without playing a semi final on a Friday night

On another note, it would mean Chelsea would be playing on Saturday the 7th, Monday the 9th...over Easter weekend and the semi on the Friday 13th April....that's 3 games in 6 days anyway. From our point of view, if we used our squad sensibly, it could work to our advantage.

I'm sure Chelsea will play their strongest side on the Monday night away to Fulham.

So you're happy to help our rivals to win the CL at our expense? What if moving the tie to a Friday helps them win the CL and we fiinish 4th?

You must be mad!

And maybe we should concentrate on beating Bolton first.

Seems like we never learn our lessons regarding looking too far ahead of ourselves!

Chelsea didn't moan too much back in 06/07 when we had to play Braga on the Thursday 8/3 and then Chelsea at SB - lunchtime in the FA.Cup 6th round Sunday 11/3 with a return match against Braga on the 14th.

In fact they must have liked it a lot 'cos they went on to win the FAC in 07.

An omen perhaps? Both Portuguese teams, and hopefully, both match date alteration refusals meaning we go on to win the FA Cup :)

Because it's an FA Cup semi final, it's at Wembley, it's a great day out, it's an occasion not a knock off work an hour early to turn up at Wembley suited and booted grabbing a dodgy burger and downing a quick pint then rushing half a mile to the ground just as importantly; fuck Europe!!

I don't think it should be moved by the way.:)

Would you be happy to help them and they go on to win the thing and get in next season's CL at our expense?

With London possibly full of Scousers before their game on the Saturday as well as the usual revellers, I would imagine the last thing the emergency services would want is to have to deal with is another 90,000 fans

It could be irrelevant if we don't beat Bolton first.

So, I'll give my views on this as and when it is appropriate to do so.

To be honest, Im surprised the Chelsea v THFC/Bolton was selected as the Sunday game anyway with the potential of Chelsea playing on the Tuesday so thought the FA may have selected that as the Saturday game anyway but they havent so they need to accept it and deal with it. It's a squad game and fixture pile ups occur, every team has them at some point.

Exactly, the police will not allow it as they will not have the resource on a Friday night for the above reasons.

Apparently it was agreed that Liverpool's semi would be on the Saturday because the Sunday is the anniversary of Hillsborough. Maybe Chelsea can ask them if they fancy swapping?

Both semis won't play on the same day...both get TV coverage, and Liverpool were never going to get the Sunday, Hillsborough disaster etc...

We'd also have games on the Saturday (Sunderland A) and Monday (Norwich H) so no advantage to us there. No way on earth that we should agree to play on the Friday night.
