I could see Dempsey going to QPR - that's his level. He'd probably do all right there, score a dozen goals and save them.

I doubt we will be able to sell Dawson seeing as Kaboul's injury has apparently gotten worse.

A hypothetical question, Could Harry buy Rose or does the fact that he is on loan for a season mean we cannot sell? Rose playing well today.

It all depends if they are rooted at the bottom by January. Dawson won't even go there if it means spending a season in the Championship at this stage of his career.

Defoe won't be going anywhere, new contract, and AVB has showed more faith in him than Harry did the last 18 months.

Well Dawson is an absolute she in. Probably get about 8m. The only other players I can see Redknapp wanting and us possibly selling are Huddlestone and/or Livermore

We won't need to replace Dawson but we need a top top top quality central midfielder for top dollar to compliment Sandro Parker and Dembele

And one centre forward and one VDV

So Dawson Huddlestone and Livermore for 15m and we sign Moutinho, Willian and Leandro...

I'm not sure we'll get one, let alone 3 of them.

AVB still wanted to sell him in the summer despite knowing that Kaboul was out until December/January. Unless its career threatening I doubt his stance will change.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

More importantly, I think we should all have a sweepstake on how many times over the course of the seaon H reminds us that QPR had 4 points from 12 games when he took over. I'm going for 36 which is quite conservative I think, given that he's already started and he's not even their manager yet....

Wanted to give you a clean sweep of positive ratings, i have been thinking the exact same thing, only its 4 points from 13 :D now....

Makes sense. We have 3 other CBs but no other ballplaying CM.

I really like Dawson, but he's an asset we need to cash in on to strengthen in more priority areas.

why the hell would Lennon go to QPR. He is one of our best players... If Lennon goes I would seriously doubt AVB because that would be insane to let someone of his quality go.

PMSL!! you da man!!

Listen your tarnishing me with the AVB bashers again, i never said that AVB is doing a shit job!

We had all these discussions right from the start of AVB's appointment, and we agreed to disagree.

Ive also pointed out we have seen glimpses, of the football we were playing last year...but fucking hell ive seen alot of dire shite aswell!! tentative, slow, looking clueless in the final 3rd, but then again first 20 against the Arse was brilliant!!

Verts, Dembele, Loris and Ade quality signings, and you think Sig and Demps are top draw?? i beg to differ on that my man.

Come on man, you know as well as any of us, Levy didnt get AVB the players he wanted..Verts Ade Sig were signed before AVB put pen to paper, Moutinho, Willian etc were the usual bullshit we have endured over the the last few seasons!! remember Rossi, Aguero, Forlan £30-£50m bids end of transfer deadline day crap, never going to happen under Levy..and im afraid thats were we fail to break the top 3, and make no mistake we missed the boat on that one, we should of kicked on when we was in the CL and we didnt!!!!

we can agree to disagree all night fella, but i tell ya this come January TW, we will see if AVB brings in his own players, and gets backed by Levy

So to summarize im not bashing AVB, im saying this NEW PROJECT!! is bullshit, and quite frankly i feel sorry for the fella, as i do for Harry, cause Levy will do the same time and time again.

If AVB got us top 3 this season, CL football, do you honestly think if AVB said right lets kick on i need 2 top draw players £60m, and ill win ya the title next season, Levy will say sure no problem!! it wont happen fella.
Reduced to tears in despair

I know exactly what you said, and quoted it. I'm not tarnishing you with being an AVB basher. I am pointing out that in my opinion your statement that Daniel Levy has totally fucked this one up is completely and utterly meaningless unless it can be seen definitively that AVB has either succeeded or failed, and that is totally impossible ATM. If all you mean is to reopen the wwell-trodden debate about Daniel Levy's transfer dealings in the Summer (tiresome as it is), I will restate my position:

I would prefer Daniel Levy to not act as our surrogate DOF. If he wants a DOF he should hire one, and if he wants a traditional style manager he should hire one and give him the purse-strings. I identified this 2 years ago, and, so far as I know, was the first to do so - I hadn't previously seen anyone else say so. I have been been highly critical of him for this, at a time when no-one else was. But I find unwarranted criticism to be totally meaningless, and a lot of the criticism he gets is based on a mythology that many Spurs fans now believe to be real. In regard to Moutinho, something that has been rehearsed several times, I am not saying I am 100% correct because none of us know for certain, and so remain open to persuasion. If you (or anyone else) can present me with a viable explanation (preferably with some evidence) as to why Porto, the FA and the entire media should universally accept and propagate a story where Porto name a price, Levy accepts it, Porto raises the price, Levy accepts it, and then Porto submit faulty paperwork, I am willing to reconsider my opinion. Until then, the notion that Levy deliberately didn't sign Moutinho remains a rather bizarre conspiracy theory. Anyone (and I do mean ANYONE) who believes that Levy should have accepted Real's minimum offer, which was, I believe, £27 million (and everything else that went along with the deal) in order to get the deal done quickly, just to he could pay Porto's demand of Moutinho's buy-out clause, which was, I believe £32 million (or was it £34 million), is, IMVHO, so far into Fantasy Island territory that I would worry about their ability to compete in Champ Man (or Fifa Pro, or whatever), let alone in the real World.

As for this nonsense about the quality of the football, it is so completely driven by revisionism as to be ludicrous. We played some great football under Mr Redknapp (GREAT - and no-one should dispute that), but we also had some games that were so turgid I was in danger of gnawing off my own nether regions - and we aren't talking about during a transitional period, as with AVB, but well into the fourth year of his reign, against pretty poor opposition, and at WHL. Do I really need to raise the spectre of Villa Park, last season?

I never said Dempsey and Sigurdsson are top draw, I said they have ben judged far too harshly, and far too soon - and, in Dempsey's case especially when you consider what he should be, which is a versatile 3rd choice striker in a team that plays with one up front.

Where we fail to break in to the top 3? We have broken into the top 4 under Levy - I think you and a lot of Spurs fans really need reminding of this! As for breaking into the top 3 - yeah we might have broken into the top 3 if we had thrown ridiculous money AND wages at it, even if any of these players would have been prepared to accept those wages, but, there again, we might have not finished in the top 3 (or 4 for that matter - let's not forget, we are competing with United who have been at the top for decades and have a fecking massive stadium, sugar-daddy Citeh and Chelsea and the Goons who, again, have a considerably bigger stadium). I mean, look at what happened last season, when we finished 4th and then got fecked out of the CL thanks to the most improbably victory ever seen. And that would have left us with a load of disgruntled players, on massive wages, who wanted to be playing CL NOW! You saw how bad it was with Modric, FFS. Really, you are just saying something that is incredibly easy for you to say so far from any knowledge of what really goes on, and without any responsibility if it goes tats-oop! And, it is a well-rehearsed argument that has little to do with your initial post that you were prepared to give AVB a go but Levy hasn't totally fucked this one up.

We don't know what will happen in January - none of us. It is not like Levy has never spent money on players - this has been demonstrated by other posters on other threads to be a ludicrous claim. All I can say, as have said many times previously, I don't really care how much or how little Levy spends on players - I care about us building an effective squad, and from where I am sitting it is a fecking sight better than it was a decade ago /of.

I am happier in Levy paying for Bale's and Modric's and not spending £50 million on a Torres (if he could have even persuaded him to come). And I am very excited with what is gong on at youth level - if that is the project you are so disparaging of, I think you need to look again.

So, to summarize, I know that you aren't bashing AVB you are saying Levy has totally fucked this one up - what I am saying is that that is a totally meaningless statement unless judged against the success or failure of AVB. Imagine how the statement that Levy has totally fucked this one up will look if AVB becomes the most successful manager since Bill Nick? Anything else is just old, boring, rehashed and well rehearsed.
