Probably why he was going to stay and Dawson was going to go.... Just a thought.

I imagine that it had far more to do with the fact that Kaboul is our best CB, Vertonghen had just been signed, Caulker is up and coming and potentially world class, so one of Dawson or Gallas was suddenly expendable and Dawson would fetch near £10m while Gallas wouldn't fetch a penny due to his age.

There's a difference between throwing yourself into last ditch challenges cos you've been caught out of position... and leadership!

I know some people can't grasp that concept though, so....

Gallas leadership really came in handy against Arsenal and Chelsea....

] Absolutley. He has a habit of being a disaster v Chelsea. i seem to remember he was shocking last year in the cup semi final.

That is interesting (do you have any links for this sort of stuff?). Unfortunately our team collective is sharing and distributing one thing recently... panic, passivity and the unwilling to take responsibility.

Sorry mate - took me a while to find this again:

The intellectual stuff it's based on is for example Wilfred Drath's 'The Deep Blue Sea' and Joseph Raelin's 'Creating Leaderful Organizations'.
