is a win not good enough? fans want to win in style now ? I started supporting spurs in the late 80s , the glory years were well and truly over. Supporting Tottenham in the 90s was painful at best, we had a couple of decent seasons in the mid to late 2000s. over that time we played well in a lot of games but didnt get the points we deserve. We are now a team in tranistion with a new manager and it is clear to see we are very hard to beat, i wouldnt say that about too many Tottenham teams in my lifetime. Older generations may dissagree but for me, long may this continue.

Definitely United at home. Villa and Sunderland away as well, although first half against the Mackems wasn't great but the second was good - and Villa arn't exactly formidable opposition these days.

Firstly, it's a complete misnomer that there were loads of great performances last year. There wasn't. Liverpool, Newcastle, Norwich away, Chelsea away. Spurs Bear would say Wigan away (and who could argue). But they were the stand outs, and not because they were free flowing, but because we played like a proper grown up team. Pressed hard, worked a a collective on and off the ball, passed well, moved well.

There have been almost as many like performances this season. Swansea, Villa away, Sunderland away, ManU were all good performances. Stoke & Reading were good performances.

There's been a few grinders for sure, but we've lost our two classiest performers who added a bit of finesse to everything we did. We are bound to look a little more utilitarian this year. There were plenty of poor performances last year that were glossed by some individual brilliance.

"It's no use just winning, we've got to win well."

(I agree with the rest though, especially as someone who started supporting Spurs in the 90s! ;))

Yeah yeah Bale has been bailing us out recently, but we haven't let in more than 2 since Everton away I believe. That kind of defensive record is tremendous and surely indicates some good team performances, at least defensively speaking. Yeah attack is a bit anemic aside from Bale at the moment, but I think we could probably point fingers to our strikers....

And Villa at home.

Actually I generally agree with BC. Both last season and this season we've had great 30-45 minute periods in the first or second half, preceded or followed by less focussed performances.

Overall I'd say we've been more professional and 'workman-like' this season, whilst last season we were generally more entertaining.

Having said that, I do think the team has looked unbalanced on many occasions, compared to the times last season where everything clicked. Hopefully Holtby can help that.

Pretty much, playing Defoe/Dempsey has also had a pretty big detriment on team performances, along with Ade's poor form. The decision-making and movement of our front four has been largely diabolical. It's something we've generally had a problem with the last 2-3 seasons or so but Modric/VDV helped piece things together. It might be more noticeable now as our defense has improved over the same period, particularly when Sandro was involved.

Its funny because I was asking myself the same question about Manchester United, they're scraping results bit never seem to dominate teams they don't have the fluidity that had in previous years. Strange isn't it. I don't know maybe its because teams now try to stop us playing maybe they are treating us more like a top team maybe we are having to learn how to deal with that as well as learning new approach with new players and new coaches. Actually how about its all of those things and no strikers worth the name too.

Fuck sake, its gonna be bleak on here when we loose a couple of games!

I swear people forget how crap we were just a few seasons ago....appreciating the discussion of any thread, does it matter how we play, who scores, how we score....bloody loving spurs right now....enjoy it everyone!!

And QPR, Villa, Arsenal, Bolton, Swansea, Everton, Wigan home games, Even when we went up to Eastlands we played well and were unlucky not to come away with a win.

Defo more good team performances than this season but there are obvious reasons for this.

Actually just reading up on Wiki and looking at the strength of the squad last season, absolutely criminal that we didn't rotate and rest players - I'm utterly convinced we would have finished higher than we did.
